🇬🇧 The normalisation of greenwashing
As sustainability fades from fashion’s agenda, misleading claims fill the void

We came across a Business of Fashion interview with H&M’s CEO and CSO. The headline? “H&M says sustainability is good for business. Can it get shoppers to care?”

Sounds reasonable. Until you read between the lines.

Because here’s what’s missing from that conversation:
❌ No mention of overproduction
❌ No questions about a business model built on volume
❌ No scrutiny — just a quote shifting responsibility onto consumers

This isn’t a failure of the system. This is a feature of it.

When sustainability quietly fades from the agenda, greenwashing becomes acceptable. Safe. Normal.
