@moonlitfractal @Hotdog @rbreich @potus Past: This is why SCOTUS is so goddamn important and so it must be part of any one person’s voting calculus, not just the individual candidate.

Present: You can’t make any progress with a newly crowned Trump on the throne.

Future: Given Alito and Thomas’ age, we don’t know that the deck is stacked forever in a 6-3, but it will be if Trump gets in and those two happily step down.

Everything was locked in then. Nothing in the following 8 years could change what was going to happen.

The crenellated nature of the common law system coupled with a ultra politicized nomination and confirmation process is a recipe for disaster. How do you see a court creating critical law for ages and not fix it? A court is supposed to apply and interpret, not create.

@rbreich They are obviously corrupt, but so far those with power to do anything about it have shown very little willingness...

but now, as an official act POTUS could go ahead and impeach them I suppose, but ordering an airstrike while the corrupt judges are vacationing with their billionaire sugar daddies would probably be much quicker.
