Alito & Thomas violated SCOTUS' "code of ethics," which requires them to recuse from cases with even the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Alito flew 2 insurrectionist flags.

Thomas' wife tried to overturn the election.

If that's not the appearance of conflict, what is?

@rbreich and if they don't, then what?
@moonlitfractal @rbreich apparently @potus can just arrest them and hold them indefinitely. Sounds like an official act.
@Hotdog @rbreich @potus That's what POTUS can do. What can we do?
@moonlitfractal @Hotdog @rbreich @potus Keep Trump out of the Oval is the short term goal, because while Biden is unlikely to abuse this new power, Trump absolutely would.
@WhiteCatTamer @Hotdog @rbreich @potus so that's the best we can do? Can't get them out of office, can't expand the court, just make it so it gets worse more slowly?

@WhiteCatTamer @Hotdog @rbreich @potus

Even with trimp not in office these rulings are going to keep happening and they're going to keep ruining and taking lives.

@moonlitfractal @Hotdog @rbreich @potus Past: This is why SCOTUS is so goddamn important and so it must be part of any one person’s voting calculus, not just the individual candidate.

Present: You can’t make any progress with a newly crowned Trump on the throne.

Future: Given Alito and Thomas’ age, we don’t know that the deck is stacked forever in a 6-3, but it will be if Trump gets in and those two happily step down.

@WhiteCatTamer @moonlitfractal @Hotdog @rbreich @potus Why the f does no American get that the fact that it is important who is on the Supreme Court is the f-iking problem.
@MartinClausen @WhiteCatTamer @moonlitfractal @rbreich @potus We understand. There was only 1 critical moment, and it was in 2016, and Putin and the billionaires and the religious nuts got a victory. Everything was locked in then. Nothing in the following 8 years could change what was going to happen.
@Hotdog @WhiteCatTamer @moonlitfractal @rbreich @potus The system was broken long before that. The crenellated nature of the common law system coupled with a ultra politicized nomination and confirmation process is a recipe for disaster. How do you see a court creating critical law for ages and not fix it? A court is supposed to apply and interpret, not create.
@MartinClausen you’re gonna have to take it up with the Marbury vs Madison court.
@Hotdog I will give them a call 🙂
@rbreich ..you forgot to say "...without consequence."
@rbreich None of that conflict of interest stuff matters any more.
@rbreich Too bad there's not a fucking thing that we can do about it. 😡
@rbreich wouldnt it still be 4-3 ?
@gatsby34 @rbreich It might, but it might’ve gone the other way if Roberts was in the position of cementing his legacy as kingmaker. A 6-3 decision is easier to accept.
@rbreich Alito's home*. He says his wife did it, which she seems to admit. It still should be noted that he may have appeared to support it, but let's not resort to fake news.
@rbreich It doesn't *require* anything or there would be an answer to the question "What if I don't?"
@rbreich
You're a great complainer.
Why not back a solution?
#LetsMakePeopleCount

@rbreich They are obviously corrupt, but so far those with power to do anything about it have shown very little willingness...

but now, as an official act POTUS could go ahead and impeach them I suppose, but ordering an airstrike while the corrupt judges are vacationing with their billionaire sugar daddies would probably be much quicker.

#CorruptSCOTUS

@rbreich #SCOTUS is so broken that even if Alito and Thomas recused, they still would have granted presidents immunity 4-3.

#fascism is here.

@rbreich Under the new "official acts' theory of SCOTUS, shouldn't Biden arrest them and send them to Guantanemo for interrogation?
