What I wouldn’t give to just be whelmed.
I'd give anything to be a minimalist.
I got rid of my Marie Kondo book because it didn't spark joy.
Yes, Marie Kondo. Every single one of these t-shirts sparks joy in me.
@Alice You’re folding them too tightly! You’re causing them stress and joint pain!
@Alice (I feel the need to clarify that I’m mocking what Kondo said about why you shouldn’t ball up socks. I don’t actually have a problem with your folding.)
@Alice fellow Konmari enjoyer :)
@Alice Wow, that’s beautiful!
@Alice Belle and who? Who? Why are you leaving us in the lurch like this?

@Alice

It's okay, she had a kid, got some therapy and learned to unclench.

... And we're probably all the worse for it.

@Alice

Oh I like this way of arranging them in a drawer.

@Alice Your t-shirt collection and mine would get along! I’ve got that “Come on Feel the Illinoise” one.
@Alice did that make a whoosh sound as the vortex collapsed?
@Alice can it spark a campfire or something else useful?
@Alice I regifted the copy I got by putting it into my little free library. Never even opened it. I wasn't interested.
@Alice oh that is brilliant, thank you for the laugh!
@Alice I'm keeping mine in a pile along with all my other decluttering books.
This is just a joke. I’m definitely a minimalist. This is what my apartment looks like and I’m low-key upset about the "clutter" that is my tower fan, but it's hot and I don't have air conditioning so I’m DEALING with it.
@Alice can't believe that laptop isn't closed. How can you live like this?
@hybridhavoc That is my "work station" and I am WORKING! (except not at this exact moment)
@hybridhavoc @Alice Only what you need? Items put away? Heaven! 😍

@Alice

My eyesight isn't amazing and with the configuration of the laptop and red table, it looked for a moment like you had a delightful indoor slide

@TheBreadmonkey Well, NOW I do. Thanks for the idea!

@Alice @TheBreadmonkey

1. your apartment is amazing
2. did you seriously buy a hot-dog bench and mustard chairs because I admire your commitment to the bit

@Alice Side note: I’m learning that adding fans to AC is a good idea. You can set the AC to 80º and a properly placed fan can make it feel closer to 72º.
@Alice Maybe think of the tower fan as a tulip table that didn’t quite make it?

@Alice

This is delightful, Alice! Informally elegant, effortlessly and un-ostentatiously sophisticated, light and free and soothing in its colors, ready to participate in the seasonal palettes through uncurtained windows and a more demure balcony. My late dad, an outsider architect, would have been thrilled by and approved of your selections and composition … isn't that a reel-to-reel film projector I see on the floor besides the far credenza? It adds to the delicate timelessness of your collected modern-style elements. Absolutely marvelous, in its parts and its whole.

@dkloke Oh wow. This is so beautifully written and means so much to me.

I've moved a lot and I’m not terribly sentimental so I give away a lot of things to my friends whenever I move, but there is a small assortment of items I've been dragging along with me for years because they help to make any new place feel like home.

None of the items are fancy or rare or worth anything, but they all mean a lot to me.

@Alice Fantastic collection! I love to see this stuff.
@Alice Anything, or *everything*?
@Alice well, that's nice and all. But you have to be willing to give up almost everything.
