Hyprland... With Xfce as a backup

@galaxydinodragon

Mate, but I'm thinking about switching to a DE that supports Wayland.

@galaxydinodragon

My main PC - KDE because it works best on big monitors

Laptop - GNOME

Garage PC - XFCE

@selea I have GNOME on my laptop and whatever Debian 12 installs with usually (RPI OS) on my pis
currently using KDE. i used to use DWM on my desktop, but i'm using my laptop more often now and things like the lack of a battery indicator or brightness settings, or volume control, or a way to toggle the sleep timer were kind of annoying. i couldn't be bothered to mess with a custom bar/panel. so i configured KDE to have the same key binds as i3, which i also did with DWM.
i mostly just use on application per workspace now due to the lack of automatic tiling
@galaxydinodragon Pop OS GNOME on work laptop & desktop, XFCE on home desktop, KDE on Pinetab2
@galaxydinodragon Usualy Hyprland/River but I am trying gnome right now.
@galaxydinodragon I use Cinnamon on my newer laptop and Xfce/LxQT on my really old laptop (didn't choose which one I prefer yet)
@galaxydinodragon
I usually prefer Fluxbox on my systems but at work I use Gnome and my Steam Deck comes with KDE so...
@galaxydinodragon Plasma when I can, Gnome when I can't.
@galaxydinodragon
GNOME & Plasma home PC (two SSD)
Hyprland my notebook ThinkPad
@galaxydinodragon KDE and cinnamon (though after latest cinnamon I switched to KDE), but other than awkward big window borders I'd still like it a lot (perhaps if my screens had gigantic resolutions, but they are only 1080p)
@galaxydinodragon Are you exclusively looking for answers from people using DEs or would "Other" apply to people who don't use DEs too? If so, only to those who are in a graphical interface, or also those exclusively using Linux virtual terminals (perhaps using the framebuffer to render graphics)?
@njsg other can be non gui, mainly just how you interact directly with the machine
@ galaxydinodragon ok, went with "other" then. non-DE tiling WM on X11, in the distant past I've also used daily non-X11 linux framebuffer with the virtual terminals. I can also use my setup with a terminal if I want. The desktop's GPU is handy and needed for graphical stuff, but quite a lot of stuff can be done from a terminal too, which can be interesting :-)
@galaxydinodragon Gnome, but Cosmic-curious.
@galaxydinodragon sway, a wayland compositor thats similar to i3
@galaxydinodragon
On my laptop mostly Cinnamon on EndeavourOS
@galaxydinodragon I used to be a GNOME guy. When I switched to Wayland a couple of months ago, I figured I will try something different. Something that supports my workflow with less cursed hacks. So now I'm running #niri. Still use a few gnome apps, but just them, not the DE.
@galaxydinodragon usually Gnome. Other times, Sway
@galaxydinodragon mostly DWM for last couple years.
