And to be perfectly clear, there was a lot in the #SOTU that I liked hearing - aid for Ukraine, restoring Roe, addressing how billionaires are scamming our tax system. I'm not trashing the whole speech.
This part, though? I am seriously surprised that people who would consider themselves to be progressives are on board with it.

Republicans didn't want Biden to be the one to pass it because they feel like it's a political win for him. That's not my opinion, that's the prevailing take on why it got gridlocked.
Passing a bill that Republicans would have gleefully supported if Trump were president isn't the win people are making this out to be.

It's much more humane than the other guy's plan which is to shoot everyone coming close to the border, and to use the military to forcefully deport people already in the US
