Honestly, I am not surprised Stack Exchange is dying. Fought the minimum password requirements for like 30 minutes in Ubuntu. FINALLY found the winning solution like 6 posts deep on Ask Ubuntu past what the AI was looking for and so forth. Tried to upvote. Got roundly rejected. "You can't upvote until you have a reputation of 20.ā€ What the actual fuck? How do you expect community participation?? #ubuntu #stackexchange

Somewhere a few people got Bugs with 6969# numbers and of course, there is bug 67670 too, haha.

Also, FYI to everyone that you currently should not use a folder called icons in your website, because Apache2 steals that path for the AutoIndex module, to show pretty icons by the names of the files in a directory based on file typeā€¦

I filed a bug report asking them to change their path name, but that's like an hour of my life I'm not getting back figuring it out, lolā€¦

Really, really tricky: Getting the smart card reader to be the method of login and autolocking the screen whenever it is removed. (I am about halfway through documenting the recipeā€”I donā€™t think itā€™s ever been written up for Ubuntu 24/ZorinOS 18.)

If youā€™re looking for an easy #Linux OS for grandma, I can highly recommend #ZorinOS.

Ubuntu flavored, looks like a cross between Windows 11 and macOS, has its own app store and took me about 30 minutes to download, install and be ready to rock and roll, including it already enabling the smart card reader out of the box.

Slightly trickier: adding Surface Pro touch screen, etc support (about another hour) and enabling TPM booting again. (1/2)
