what about you? #gaming
@nixCraft there are reasons for which I prefer flight simulators. One of them being that there's no deadline, time limit, competition.
When I'm tired and just want a disconnect, I fly with such low procedural standards that, in real life, would put me in prison.
@nixCraft Damn straight. Getting good at something like that takes time and attention. Most of mine is already claimed, so... I embrace the casual.
@nixCraft I like to play on easy/casual first to get the feel of the game and focus on the story. If I like the game, I up the difficulty gradually. I did this with Resident Evil 7 and 8, they were my first RE games.
@nixCraft normal/easy because there are much better things in life a man should put his effort into
@nixCraft Heed the choice of the elder Chozo, for he is wise about the lives of those who enjoy games.
@nixCraft I'm in the control group again, I don't play.
@nixCraft @TheDailyBurble See also why I’ve played a tiny bit of Helldivers 2 to get a sense of it, but won’t be playing it on the regular.

@nixCraft I play easy mode because I suck at aim/shoot games and despite decades of playing I'm not ever going to "get good". AND I want to enjoy the story line of some of the games.

Currently playing Starfield on easy, and enjoying the hell out of easy mode.

@nixCraft Oh hell yeah. I've seen the term "Story Mode" used, rather than "Easy Mode". Like, yeah, whatever, I want the story not the twitch-reflex stuff.
@nixCraft absolutely. Don't have the time to "get gud" and hate myself later for time wasted on not my family
@nixCraft I play on the difficulty the developers intended and then get really cranky when I'm bad at the game
@nixCraft rare, but the best solution is the games that adjust the difficulty to the player’s skill
@nixCraft Definitely the second one.
@nixCraft yup. Usually. I don't have much time for games... so I'm not gonna be able to dedicate what it takes to get real good and I don't wanna repeat story. Easy mode is where it's at.
@nixCraft You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.
@nixCraft Both are unnecessarily insulting. Just play what you want for any reason.
@nixCraft There is no easy mode in Noita 🥲🥲
@nixCraft playing on hard mode because I want to struggle through the game the first time since I likely won't play through a second timd

@nixCraft Yes, but not usually because I don’t want to grind. It takes time to learn a new game, and I’d rather learn it without having to worry too much about getting stuck.

I just got Factorio for Christmas last year, and the eighty-hour grind to launch my very first rocket was done on peaceful mode.

@nixCraft Playing on Easy because I want to have fun, damn it.

@nixCraft It feels like most game companies are not able to create games for casual gamers.

I like games to be a bit challenging, but not so difficult that I spend ages getting past one point. The level just over the easiest is often too hard for us peeps that don't play a lot, while the easiest level is often too easy.

Really, I wish games could give the option to skip boss fights. They make a game that is "challenging enough" for most part but then you need to get past a point that just gets so stressy you wanna leave the game alltogether.

With Jedi Fallen Order / Survivor I played on "medium" setting but had to switch to storymode during boss fights. At least there we had the option to switch difficulty.

@nixCraft i’ve gotten to the point where I just want to explore, find secrets, solve puzzles, and enjoy a story. Boss fights are a miserable experience that impede me from continuing to enjoy the parts that I like. I don’t want to grind and/or repeat fighting a boss over and over again.
