đ¤Śââď¸ Holy-TRANSPARENT-Batman!
Look,
equally brutal, and I think worth mentioning, is the ease at which people accept and process this, BUY it if you will. Yeah, the Times are complete assholes for doing this...but what does it say about people when it works?đ¤

@jeffjarvis Isn't the word "just" interesting in "just too old to be president"?
One can envision the "American" with their hands on their hips speaking through an exasperated sigh.
@jeffjarvis Yeesh, they just keep going back to the same well. Don't they?
I finally pulled the trigger on cancelling my subscription.
I've seen so many bizarre headlines in regards to polls. Enough to make me sound like a conspiracy theorist and say the polls were intentionally designed to get the reported results.
I guess some people think I should consider voting for a well documented serial lying, pussy-grabbing, secret document stealing, criminal that believes he is above all US laws?
And these people are serious in that belief that everyone should consider the Orange Shit Stain for President of the United States?
Good luck with that. But also realize that #Trump will do away with all media except those under his complete control if he gets elected.
The chance of the New York Times winning the respect of MAGA conservatives is, like, one in a million.
NYT response:
Democrats!!! Take this advice from a European. Replace Biden with someone else!!
The only reason an asshole like Trump can win again is if you do not provide a likable alternative.
You made that mistake putting Clinton against Trump. Don't make that mistake again.
@jeffjarvis So, this is the same poll as yesterday; they are just slowly releasing answers over time and harping on their favorite tune: âBiden is old.â Iâd like to point out a big flaw in their poll beyond the chosen questions.
Look at the % of people they polled by population density: 24% city, 41% suburb, 35% rural. The actual population density in America: 31% urban, 55% suburban, 14% rural. They are over-representing rural voters by almost 3 to 1 in this poll. It doesnât appear they corrected for this at all.
Also, 35% of their respondents are from the âSouthâ region, only 20% from the northeast. Although they donât specify exactly what that means, this doesnât appear to be anywhere close to an even distribution.
Finally, 66% of their respondents were white. White people are 57.8% of the population according to the latest census.
In summary, this poll HEAVILY over represents southern rural white voters.
I stopped believing polls were even trying to be accurate when despite them, the GOP has been taken to the cleaners in most special elections and proposition ballots in swing areas, since Dobbs.
Instead I sit in a corner like this đ¤
@Edelruth @mls14 @jeffjarvis I'm not American, so things may be different over there, but here in Australia it's completely normal for the polls in a by-election (which I *think* is analogous to what you call a special election) to be less reliable than the polling in a nationwide federal election. I wouldn't put *too* much stock in that specific fact.
There may be other factors that make it right to mistrust polling, but I'd say not that one.
@mls14 @jeffjarvis This is real âconsent manufacturing go brrrrâ
That and the âmajority of voters in our poll say Biden is to oldâ like *they* werenât the ones who introduced and pushed the idea.
@jeffjarvis
I know it seems crazy that people working so hard to be informed are trapped in a collective delusion, but here we are.
Polls are designed to be garbage. The people who respond to polls are weirdos & liars. Some lie for fun, some because they think thatâs what they âshouldâ say, some are malicious, but the dead certain thing about pollsters is they only speak to people who answer âunknown callersâ, that is, almost no one.
@jeffjarvis
Don't forget there's a soupçon of racism in declaring him too old; we might get Kamala taking over!
All the while Trump is openly talking about concentration camps and is unable to speak common English words.
