Historically a teacher by profession. I re-designed my life after a cancer diagnosis.

Earned a BSc. in Software Engineering, a Masters in Entrepreneurship & now I develop/research/use AI.

All this makes me deeply interested in how human nature, society & technology all affect each other.

I love teaching, learning, laughing & solving problems elegantly.

> When developers say that LLMs make them more productive, you need to keep in mind that this is what they’re automating: dysfunction, tampering as a design strategy, superstition-driven coding, and software whose quality genuinely doesn’t matter, all in an environment where rigour is completely absent.

Happy birthday Mastodon! 🎉

From Vivaldi, a big thank you to @Gargron, the rest of Mastodon's team and everyone else who enjoys and breathes life into this corner of the internet!

Here's to 10 more! 🥂

“Asking an AI chatbot a question consumes a great deal more energy than finding the answer via simple web search or calculator. It adds extra demand for no good reason... a bit like driving to the shops in an SUV instead of riding your bike.”

Or driving any kind of car. AI, like cars, aims to reconfigure everyday life in a way that’s vastly more energy-hungry and polluting… and profitable for a few.

The environmental cost of datacentres is rising. Is it time to quit AI?

As the QuitGPT movement gains momentum, should people concerned about the environmental impacts of AI consider opting out?

Media wants us to feel sorry for Israeli soldiers who committed genocide and killed 20 people a day.

Not for the Palestinians who suffered genocide
Not for the Iranian families who lost 170 children
Not for the tens of thousands of orphans in Gaza

They want us to weap for the poor helpless Israeli soldiers who have to live with the trauma of knowing they "just followed orders" to mass murder innocent children like Hind Rajab.

Nah—I hope they enjoy their self made hell in this life & the next

The Onion is one of the things keeping me alive.

"Beirutification” should become a word if it is not already. By that, I mean the slow normalisation of periodic attacks on a city by a capricious and violent state, until blasts and death become woven into the fabric of urban life. It is urban death by a thousand knives. It is the suffocation of imagination and the thwarting of any civil attempt at a better life, and the gradual dilapidation of a nation to the point where it can no longer stand again"

‘Don’t die’: the two words that sum up our lives in Tehran now

In a park overlooking the city, I ran into a group of young people chatting and joking. As the bombs fall, fragments of life remain, writes an anonymous Tehran resident

The Guardian
God give me the confidence of an AI chatbot that has just delivered its 20th consecutive “this time we finally got it!” declaration.
This headline appeared in the UK yesterday, but not a single major U.S. newspaper dared to print it. This is because U.S. media self-censor out of fear of being punished by the Trump administration, which effectively censors the media while lying that the media in Europe is being censored.

The people who claim we had to attack Iran to liberate women are silent on the women and girls Trump has raped

The ones who claim to protect Iranian girls are mocking the 175 Iranian girls brutally murdered by US bombs

The ones who claim Iran had imminent nuclear weapons are silent on Iran’s full compliance with Iran nuclear deal & silent on Israel’s 200+ nukes in violation of every international law

This war is not about justice. It’s a modern day crusade by Christian nationalists & fascists
