The Chin is gone, for good. #RIP #BrianMulroney.

Funny thing is, I NEVER EVER thought I would be saying "Rest In Peace" to Brian Mulroney.

Growing up, I NEVER heard a nice word said about him, at ALL. Hating him seemed to be the only thing #WesternCanada and #EasternCanada could agree on, and yet SOMEHOW he held three terms as #PrimeMinister.

When he finally stepped down, the only people sad were #politicalcartoonists. One of them summed it up as "The Chin is gone."

#Canada
#Politics

It's really hard for me to process all this. For one thing, I ALWAYS thought I would be HAPPY when Brian Mulroney died.

As I said, growing up I never heard ANYONE from ANYWHERE in Canada say anything nice about PM Mulroney, even before he created the #GeneralSalesTax, or #GST.

When Mulroney finally stepped down, his successor, our only woman PM not only lasted six months but her #Party, and thus Mulroney's was nearly WIPED OUT the next election (they only held on to TWO #ParlimentarySeats).

Only thing is, in between his resignation and passing we got so much worse. After Mulroney, we get #PrestonManning, #StephenHarper, #MaximeBernier, and the most #Trumpian "#Canadian" of all #PierrePoilievre.

On the one hand, I'd gladly take Brian Mulroney over all of THAT, but on the other hand, I keep wondering if that's the #OvertonWindow talking, and if Mulroney made Manning, Harper, Poilievere inevitable.

So, #BrianMulroney, he wasn't the worst, but he should have been, and now he's gone.
