Vol. 2, Issue 7 - Backwards compatibility with Pokémon titles

It’s time for Vol. 2, Issue 7 of the Johto Times newsletter! This week, I want to reflect on the backwards compatibility of Pokémon titles and highlight the current landscape for connecting and trading between classic Pokémon games. We also have some great artwork submitted to the Johto Times mailbag, so be sure to check that out too!

@johto I'm kind of hoping we get a guild wars 1 situation where the server resources are so minimal that 2 employees keep the old servers running just because they can.

Eventually though, the servers will inevitably go down. That's the downside of the cloud, even moreso in this situation where the frontend is locked behind abandoned hardware. I'm wishing that one day, homebrew can fill in the role and provide a way to transfer between 3DS and Switch to get to bank.

@LuckyStoat Because they've used words to signal that this isn't forever, I fully expect Bank and Poké Transporter to go down too at some point in the future.

It's very sad, and we need to have options to backup our own data to keep it safe.
