I've found a fun hobby. Asking r1 completely nonsense questions like "Can you tell me how to get to sesame street?" and watching it flat out panic.

"There's no such place as sesame street right?... I heard of a place called "Sesame Place"... Wait, do they mean the set of the show? Or perhaps there's a place called Sesame with a street in front of it."

And around and around we go 

Hopefully this isn't too politically sensitive, but I'm busy removing all reoccurring US payments in my life. Prime and YouTube premium are both cancelled.

I am in the process of migrating to a .ca domain name as well for my dev blog (which I confess I should update more than I do), along with moving the hosting and email to a Canadian company.

I'm just doing my part with this whole mess and ensuring the money I spend is going towards improving Canadian infrastructure.

I had a fun server bug today! My service unpacks a record from a database, saves the record to a file, throws trying to read the malformed data, then repeats until out of disk space.

Definitely a unique way to crash! At least the fix wasn't hard. 

I really need to get a hobby... I've been making those paper snowflakes all day after finally learning how to make them.

And the 2009 MacBook refurbishment is complete! I found this in the ewaste and upgraded it to a Linux machine. I put a new battery in it, 8GB of memory from the 2, an SSD, redid the thermal paste, I even had the screen apart to tighten up the hinges. To be honest, that part was quite terrifying...

The only casualty was the CD drive, I think I may have frayed one of the cables due to the tightness. But everything else is working! Even the wifi!
