Bombshell from CNN. Let’s connect the dots:

In the last days of his presidency, Trump personally ordered a super-sensitive classified binder of intelligence—about Russia interfering in the election on his behalf—to be delivered to him.

On his way out the door, Trump absconded with boxes of classified material.

The binder contained raw intelligence on Russian agents, including sources and methods. It was never returned. It is still missing.

The mystery of the missing binder: How a collection of raw Russian intelligence disappeared under Trump

A binder containing highly classified information related to Russian election interference went missing at the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, raising alarms among intelligence officials.

CNN
@JamesGleick if anybody else committed this level of treason they'd be in jail now.
@Lazarou even more: they would not be able to step outside for..... extremely extended period of time.

@Lazarou @JamesGleick
It is disturbing -- and all too predictable -- how every far right strongman is playing from the same song sheet and covering for each other.

This is not good how widespread and similar all of these movements are.

@jonathankoren @JamesGleick it's a global fascist coup and it needs to be addressed as such.
There are far more of us than there are of them, but we are disorganised and disinterested (or scared)
@jonathankoren @Lazarou @JamesGleick the contradictions of late stage capitalism
@JamesGleick Here's the question no one wants to ask let alone answer: How many of our intelligence assets overseas has Trump murdered?
@todwest @JamesGleick I believe it's nine that is something I'll go find

@JamesGleick It's almost as if he was working for Putin. (cough cough mumble mumble)
@JamesGleick By the way: How is the interpreter of the private Putin-Trump meeting at Helsinki doing?
@JamesGleick ...and he's still allowed to run as a candidate for Führer (sorry, 'President').
@JamesGleick But Trump has been yelling about the RUSSIA HOAX for years and he wouldn't lie to us. I'm sure he took those documents so he can release them and clear his name. Any day now. /s (obviously)
@JamesGleick Do you think he sold or donated it to his buddy Vlad?

@donwatkins @JamesGleick

As long as the dossier remains lost, the intel assessment has to assume that its facts are now living in the wild.

@JamesGleick Should we be suspicious because only CNN is reporting on this?

@JamesGleick Treason can, but doesn't have to lead to a death sentence.

For sure it'll lead to incapability to hold any office under the United States.

18 USC § 2381:

"Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000;  and ***shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States***."

@JamesGleick the level of self-serving treason is mind-boggling.

Also, it’s past time they looked in Ivana’s casket at Bedminster.

@JamesGleick Trump is the seed of a dictator planted in the ground. Get the weed killer ready.

@JamesGleick

Trump is a criminal fascist, an enemy of democracy, sure.

But does the CNN report suggest that there's no copy of the material in question, no digitized version?

Hard to believe.

@lil_meow_meow @JamesGleick

You have to read the report. Many copies were made, containing various documents, some curated, some raw feed. The one unaccounted for was one of the most highly 'radioactive.'

And all of the data was derived from other databases. Yes, all the information still exists in government hands, and that's not the problem.

@skydog @JamesGleick

Thanks, I had read it and understood that copies were made, but apparently not of all docs?

Sorry, am undercaffeinated and sleep-deprived and therefore apparently missing the bombshell: We know that Trump is a corrupt fascist and a Russian puppet.

@JamesGleick
But here's the toy at the bottom of the box:
"The binder contained raw intelligence the US and its NATO allies collected on Russians and Russian agents, including sources and methods that informed the US government’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to help Trump win the 2016 election, sources tell CNN."
You couldn't write this for a movie script. 😳
@JamesGleick even if the binder is found, everyone should assume that the contents have been copied and distributed

@JamesGleick

I think 'best case' here is that they locate where the dossier 'was', and that the person that had it found he had a hot rock, and destroyed it. And they can prove it was destroyed early.

Anything short of that leaves the facts in the dossier in the wind long enough that its compromise will probably have to be assumed. And as long as it is unaccounted for, its facts must be considered imperiled. I imagine others of the Five Eyes have already limited their sharing, and recruitment of assets will dwindle to a mere fraction of the former. To sign on with us, is to issue a carte blanche death warrant upon themselves.

@JamesGleick

Quoting Don Jr., "Damn, mom's coffin seemed heavier than it should have been! Glad she got to take some secrets to heaven with her."

@JamesGleick the binder is missing? they knew it was missing when they raided mar-a-lago & chose to charge him on presidential records act? why is it they don't charge him at any point in the past 3 years? let me explain what happened, the document has dirt on both sides which if they charge him on that document, it will get released to the public which they don't want! they are prosecuting him until the document is returned

@WrenJames @JamesGleick

My hypothesis is: the documents were assumed to be missing early in 2021, but owing to the jeopardy created the three letter agencies wanted as much time as possible to unwind from exposure. Unfortunately, this meant leaving Trump and his treason-train steaming along full speed. Even today, we are in the awkward gap between a need to prosecute the traitors while minimizing the damage. Many ppl have lost their lives. This is an ongoing disaster.

@yunchtime @JamesGleick it sounds like Biden can't unwind the mess Trump created. should the democratic party put up someone who could untangle the mess? Bobby Kennedy Jr? they are demanding that only Biden can beat Trump but in 3 years he hasn't. all i seen is a Biden metaphorically trying to untangle christmas tree lights that Trump left him only to become part of the tangled mess.

@WrenJames @JamesGleick

Personally I think Biden is doing very well, though that’s an unpopular opinion. RFK Jr? That’s not even funny, what a horrific asshole is. I don’t think Pete Buttigieg has the traction. I just hope the Biden team builds bridges to the progressive wing, which needs to be done. The DNC is a mess since the Hilary - Sanders split, but it’s still infinitely better than GOP ideologues like Stefanik.

@yunchtime RFK does sound like he has throat cancer, i wouldn't put in a politician who people complained about Biden is older than dirt, Hillary is unlikeable, Trump being a narcissist or Haley being a Bush-era pro-war clone. DeSantis is uncharismatic, Christie is a cross between a typical political idiot & the pillsbury doughboy. the pickings are slim to nonexistent!
@JamesGleick
If I remember correctly, the CIA has said an unusually large number of their foreign assets have either disappeared or been murdered.

@JamesGleick hmm, looks like we’ll be needing “but his binder” merch now. Anyhoo, It’s probably mixed in with Baron’s Pokémon card collection binders.

@JamesGleick

But her emails!

Is Trump capable of uttering a single word that is not blatant projection?

@JamesGleick The treason-weasel-courtroom-sketch-model should be tried under the Espionage Act.
@JamesGleick internally screaming all the swears
@JamesGleick If we're not already talking about capital treason charges for dozens of boxes of classified records then media reporting this is just pointless bad news.
@JamesGleick
Blackmailing Putin can lead to an encouter with an unfriendly umbrella.
@JamesGleick The US government has murdered people for less.

@JamesGleick

How is it that shit like this goes "unnoticed" for almost 3 years? Whoever signed for that folder last should have hir hide nailed to the wall - 3 years ago!

@JamesGleick In what fucking universe is that not espionage, punishable by death?

@JamesGleick
Of these 9 people in the classified Russia binder story,
Cassidy Hutchinson
Devin Nunes
Donald Trump
Gina Haspel
John Solomon
Kash Patel
Mark Meadows
Pat Cipollone
William Barr

I trust little more than one: Cassidy Hutchinson. The rest IMHO are MAGA liars, cheaters, crooks, sleazebags, insurrectionists, traitors, and/or stochastic terrorists😡 We could have a poll about the reputations of the others, some more notorious than others. #MAGArbage

@JamesGleick A bombshell, that most of us assumed.
@JamesGleick how in the **** is that maniac not in pretrial detention like anyone else [and yet has the utter gall to claim unfair treatment]
@JamesGleick

Still playing CatchUp or are they playing both sides?
@JamesGleick If that's not enough to charge him with high treason and espionage then maybe the USA's existance as a whole should be put up for "debate"...
@JamesGleick do these people literally not have computers? Is it because it’s more exciting this way?
@JamesGleick Years from now when the USA is history, analysts will say this was the straw that broke the United States.
@JamesGleick When our governmental leaders switch to enemies employment they at least openly get paid by them.
@JamesGleick Yet our law enforcement and intelligence agencies seem unable to figure out where it is and get it back? Our institutions keep failing us. Why can't the FBI knock on Mark Meadow's door with a search warrant?
@Meowthias He doesn’t have it. Trump has it, or he already sold it.
