Consistently showing up late to meetings doesn't mean you're busy; it means you're a poor planner.
@rands Still one of the least important things to any real outcome of all the things that could be considered.
@rands it’s a whole different question, whether those meetings were necessary to begin with.
@rands it might also just mean you have ADHD
@rands l disagree from a purely neurodivergent point of view. I am ready when I get the reminder at 15 minutes before … but then get distracted because when I am focused I have a broken sense of time passing. The struggle is real . Do nothing for 15 minutes by being constantly reminded by snooze, or run the gamble I will solve the problem in front of me and then be late.
@rands @grmpyprogrammer and if everyone is consistently late for meetings, it means get out while you still can, because the organization isn’t committed, and doesn’t respect anyone’s time
@rands @cdevroe And when remote it shows you don’t respect other people’s time.
@rands or that you live surrounded by poor planners.

@rands For me, it meant I was easily distracted by work and lost track of time. Planning doesn’t help when the entire plan routine drops from your mind because your work is so absorbing.

The worst thing that happened to me is when Steve Jobs killed modal notifications. I literally need something to reject my keypresses for 15 seconds or so before I realize that I needed to be doing something else. Was late to a lot of meetings after that, for years. Hyperfocus is real.

@rands @evan and/or an asshole who thinks they’re more important than everyone else
@rands or maybe have adhd or are otherwise neurodivergent

@rands or you are horribly over capacity.

One of those times when glib phrases don’t cut it.
