I wish we had bouncy castles when I was a kid! I only got to play in them when the carnival came to town and…. eeew! 😄
Day 9: Bounce
Time-lapse process for Day 9: Bounce. About 2.5 hours of sketching, inking and coloring reduced to just a minute. 🤣 The coloring part was *much* more fun than the sketching. #Inktober #LineaSketch

The brilliant Spy vs Spy strip by Cuban artist Antonio Prohías, was one of the reasons I adored Mad Magazine as a kid. Hope I did it justice! 🤓

It’s funny you can see just how much trouble I had sketching the Black Spy’s back hand / arm. The whole thing also didn’t feel right using smooth semi-circles for arms and legs. Then I put in bent angles and it started to feel right.
About 4 hours total for this one. 🫣

A few things about this one:
- Really wasn’t jazzed to do it originally
- Hated it almost all the way up to the end
- Feel it came out kinda neat
- Crosshatching detail totally saved it
- Remind me not to do this style of drawing again if I’m not getting paid to do it 😜
Managed to keep it to under an hour. Somehow. No sketching, just drawing. Totally outside my comfort zone but it turned out kind of neat. ❄️

Sometimes the biggest decision for each Inktober drawing is how to color/style it. I considered going all out color-wise for this one but scales that back to just a few colors and I think it turned out much better for it.

Time-lapse process for Day 28: Sparkle. Creating and designing is a series of choices. Choosing what works and what doesn’t.
I had fully intended to put the starburst pattern into the background behind Homer’s head ala the soap box from the episode but once I got it penciled in I didn’t like how the desperate angles interacted with the curve of the swoosh and I decided to leave it out.
I would have made additional choices like enlarging the sparkles too but I ran out of time. 🤷♂️
I’m GOING to finish Inktober I swear! If it comes in the form of a Borg cube I may not though. 😂

Getting a (small) leg up on this year’s #Inktober. Got the first three days sketched and the first one inked. Toying with the idea of brainstorming and sketching them ALL first then inking them as I go. That probably won’t pan out but it’s fun to dream.
3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF! Time once again to push myself creatively during Inktober. Hopefully I’ll make it through the entire month. I can’t wait to see what you all create. This is going to be fun!

@jlward I’ll never say never but there are currently no plans since it relies heavily on Apple Pencil support. How would you see a Mac version working given that?
@gedeonm Well, ideally, I would like to use it with a Wacom tablet. Maybe that's a non-starter given reliance on the Pencil. I just really enjoy the feel of the tools in Linea.
There may be some implementation of sidecar or continuity that would make sense to use the iPad in place of the Wacom with a Mac, but nothing is jumping out at me as strongly as the possibility of using a Wacom.
As a consolation prize, could I get you guys to add the ability to use my own fonts in Linea?

@jlward Yeah these are the challenges we’ve discussed internally and if it’s really worth the development effort when great drawing/creation apps already exist on the Mac. As for fonts, it’s already on the list to consider but it’s not a slam dunk by any means.
@gedeonm I also want to be clear that I'm not being dismissive of a Mac-based Linea that uses continuity or sidecar. It's just that it feels like you're going to have to do more than that if you want to make bringing it to the Mac feel special. Obviously, the additional power and higher resolutions could allow for larger documents, but it still feels like there needs to be something more. What would make that special, but still feel like Linea? I don't have an answer, but I will think about it.
