Movie #52: Mad Max: Fury Road

Movie #53: Air Force One

Worried I'm going to lose followers over this one…

Movie #54: Asteroid City
Movie #55: Hamilton
Movie #56: Jurassic Park
Movie #57: The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Movie #58: Sisu

P.S. I’m on Letterboxd and post all my reviews there as well. I’d love to follow more people there, so drop your profile 😁 https://letterboxd.com/mattbirchler/

Movie #59: The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Movie #60: No Hard Feelings

Movie #61: Jurassic Park III

This was actually the first DVD I ever owned. I liked it at the time, but woof, it’s way worse than I remembered 😬

Movie #62: Jurassic World

Was going to give this one an “okay” score until the final act. An all time shocker 😂

Movie #63: Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1

Saw this in a Dolby Vision theater and it was pretty great. Video and audio were nice, but the bass in the seats elevates certain scenes.

Movie #64: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Movie #65: Barbie
Movie #66: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Movie #67: But I’m a Cheerleader
Movie #68: Jurassic World Dominion
Movie #69 👀: The Redeem Team
Movie #70: Peggy Sue Got Married
Movie #71: Nimona
Movie #72: Clue

Movie #73: The Meg

It’s possible the Jurassic World trilogy has lowered my standards, but at least this was a bit of fun.

Movie #74: My Cousin Vinny
Movie #75: John Wick: Chapter 2

Movie #76: Clue

Rewatched already and enjoyed a ton again 😁

Movie #77: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

I’m not sure I’ve seen so much breakaway glass used in a single film before 😨

Movie #78: They Cloned Tyrone

Movie #79: John Wick: Chapter 4

And that's the John Wick franchise (so far, of course)! Amazingly, all 4 of these fell into my "good" category, which is remarkably consistent.

Also noting that last year on Aug 20 I watched my 51st movie of the year, so I'm *flying* past my 100 movies goal this year 😱

Movie #80: The Mummy
Movie #81: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Movie #82: The Blackening
Movie #83: Prom Night
Movie #84: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Movie #85: Re-Animator

From ‘85 as well…nice

Movie #86: Hocus Pocus
Movie #87: No One Will Save You
Movie #88: Theater Camp

Movie #89: Out of Sight

Quick Reviews

Movie #90: Elemental

Underrated 💪

Movie #91: Talk to Me
Movie #92: Barbie
Movie #93: Mars Attacks!
Movie #94: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Movie #95: Shin Godzilla

Highly recommend not watching the dubbed version of this. I toggled over a few times and the English acting is…rough. Subs FTW.

Movie #96: Taylor Siwft: The Eras Tour

Movie #97: Kill Bill: Vol. 1

Quick Reviews

Movie #98: Totally Killer

Movie #99: A Nightmare on Elm Street

1 more for my 100 movie goal for 2023

Movie #100: Shutter Island

Figured I could do a spooky movie and a Scorsese flick at at once 😉

Movie #101: After Hours

Not technically spooky, but this is also a bit of a nightmare for the protagonist.

Movie #102: A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge

Woof!

Movie #103: Halloween (2018)
Movie #104: A Haunting in Venice

Movie #105: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Also a young Laurence Fishburne who proves he’s always been cool as hell.

Movie #106: The Dog Who Saved Christmas

Movie #107: Quiz Girl

Wife is sick, so chilling out with movies all day.

Movie #108: The Killer
Movie #109: The Descent
Movie #110: Sunshine

Movie #111: A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

I knew it wouldn't be great, but I hoped for more than this 😕

Movie #112: The Conversation
@matt one of the best 2/3rds of a sci-fi movie ever made!

@matt this movie is so close to amazing. Every time I watch it for the first half I’m like omg this is a classic.

And then.

@matt I really enjoyed it, very jumpy for large parts once in the cave 😁
@matt What?!!! How did I miss a new Fincher film!!!

@tchaten Welcome to the world of streaming where massive people make massive movies and no one notices because streaming-only kinda sucks hard.

I need to write a blog post to flesh out this newfound frustration 😂

@matt Yea when in doubt oh Netflix who doesn’t share their data with the TV app :(

@matt @tchaten Major props to  for giving KotFM the proper theatrical release it deserved.

I’m by no means against streaming, but it’s sad when awesome movies can’t be enjoyed on the big screen.

@ravipatel @tchaten For sure. I used to be all in on streaming everything day one, but I’ve come around over the last few years. A theatrical release makes a movie land more for some reason.
@matt Quite excellent film, Fassbender’s understated acting is superb.
@matt This one is my favorite from the Nightmare series.
@matt Just saw it last night. I liked the first two but I really liked this one. The way it was filmed was extraordinary.
@matt My favorite film of all time.
@matt You should track this down to watch during spooky season! Early Peter Jackson and lots of fun - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103873/
@matt Apparently I’m a little behind 😜
@florianlionel Never too late to start catching up 😁
@matt still get nightmares thinking about the school classroom scene
@matt I enjoy your reviews thanks. What does “an all time oner shot” refer to in this one?
@nortools Thank you! The oner I'm thinking about is in the restaurant near the end where we follow a few characters all over and go above and through walls over and over. It really blew me away this time.
@matt of course!! That is an awesome shot. I love Kill Bill
@matt the suspense is killing me - edge data doesn’t seem to like images on Mastodon
@matt hey, Matt! Could you tell me what app this is?
@matt "Couldn't take my eyes off the screen“ sounds rather better than okay? 😉
@zarlock Haha I debated between okay and good
@matt it’s my favorite movie this year.
