#Climate Protesters March on #NewYork, Calling for End to #FossilFuels
Ahead of #UN meetings this week, thousands gathered in Midtown to demand that President #Biden & other world leaders stop new #oil & #gas #drilling.
Tens of thousands of people, young & old, filled the streets of #Manhattan on Sunday to demand that world leaders quickly pivot away from #FossilFuels dangerously heating the #Earth.
Their ire was sharply directed at President #Biden, who is expected to arrive in #NY Sunday night for several fund-raisers this week & to speak before the #UnitedNations General Assembly session that begins Tues.
“Biden, you should be scared of us,” Emma Buretta, 17, a NYC HS student & an organizer w/the Fridays for Future movement, shouted at a rally ahead of the march. “If you want our #vote, if you don’t want the blood of our generations to be on your hands, end #FossilFuels.”
The Biden admin has shepherded through the #UnitedStates’ most ambitious #climate #law & is working to transition the country to #wind, #solar & other #RenewableEnergy. But it has also continued to approve permits for new #oil & #gas #drilling.

The #Biden admin is expected make its boldest move yet to #protect the #ArcticNationalWildlifeRefuge by canceling #oil & #gas leases in #Alaska’s vast, remote coastal plain that had been awarded by the previous admin….
