Is bothsidesism killing us? (And why scientific consensus matters) - Healthy Debate

Our information ecosystem has become a massive false-balance machine. We need to correct bothsideism and misinformation.

Healthy Debate

@CaulfieldTim @healthydebate Great article!

And I think it's not necessarily limited to science. During the #Brexit debate here in the UK in 2016 there was an overwhelming consensus among economists that Brexit would harm the British economy. You wouldn't have known that from the media coverage.

@CaulfieldTim @healthydebate This is such a great way to make the point: β€œWould you want to drive across a bridge informed by the existing body of evidence or one where the builders embraced a contrarian view of physics? The fact that these questions are so obviously absurd illustrates that in many, perhaps most, areas there is an acceptance that the scientific consensus matters.”
