@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself will listen once audio is outside walled garden, thanks.
@Ra @neilhimself Search your podcast app, Ra, you should find the RSS version :-)

@BBCRadio4 You are making the feed really difficult to find. So far I'm unsuccessful. Please improve the show page and include a rel link or at the very least a link that can be manually copied.

@Ra @neilhimself

@BBCRadio4 Ah, you meant the Desert Island Discs podcast. It does indeed have a podcast tab on the programme page.

As for Good Omens, apparently it goes under this clause: "If the podcast you've chosen doesn't have a Podcast tab, it's likely this is a BBC Sounds Exclusive podcast"

Or, as the rest of us call it: "not a podcast"

Finally, The News Quiz is once again rss-ing without the 2 week lag. https://feeds.bbcsoundsrss.media/TheNewsQuiz.rss
Bless the sanity of whoever sorted that out.

Edit: ok, so I got that slightly wrong ,it's not BBC affiliated β€” but it is the right thing to do. #rss

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself What’s the β€œer” for? That sounds like the same breadth as my musical taste…

@BBCRadio4 I’m going on a road trip soon, and I might just have to put this on.

@garretble @BBCRadio4 @neilhimself
I've got an eight-hour ferry ride tomorrow. Now I know what's gonna be on my headphones
@maelduin13 @garretble @BBCRadio4 @neilhimself Don't forget your gold coin for the ferryman.
@BBCRadio4 also a great TV version on Amazon Prime.
@RolandOfGilead If you like that sort of thing ;-)
@BBCRadio4 Oh Hell Yeah BBCR4's Actually Posting Here! I Listen On 198 All The Time!
@Detour 198 rocks, of course, but I'm sorry to say the long wave transmitter's going to be switched off next year. Do you have the BBC Sounds app on your phone?
@BBCRadio4 I'm Afraid Neither Of My Phones Support BBC Sounds, 1 Is A NOKIA And The Other's A BlackBerry.
@Detour @BBCRadio4 There's still FM at least. An app for a proprietary platform shouldn't ever become the primary means of accessing a public service, and since we are gradually going in that direction I'd rather not use it. I know there's a website too (and DAB) but everywhere nags about the app. Nope for me. And I'm in my 30s!
@krnlg @BBCRadio4 I'm Definitely With You On This 1. The App Cannot Be The Main Access Method, Especially When We Have Other Very Suitable Widespread Technology To Listen.

Even Just With Radio, As Much As FM Is Convenient For My Car, Reception Is Dead Indoors, And Even If We Ignore The Extremely Low Quality Stream, DAB Is A Mess Which Breaks Up All The Time Even With An Outside Antenna. LW Is King.

@BBCRadio4 @Detour

After an internal battle of 30 years and the myopia that those that can't receive FM or DAB are bound to have Internet.

LW was the emergency bandwidth, do we think an internet connection is more likely to work than a long wave transmitter? That feels like hubris.

I imagine nuclear submarine commander orders have had to change.

@simon_lucy Is DAB still going?

@Detour @BBCRadio4

@clacke @BBCRadio4 @Detour

Oh yes, everyone doubled down on DAB, as it's over the 50% coverage the Gov has to decide on the future and the switch off of FM and AM. Given the gaps in coverage I can't see that happening soon and there's no budget to either switch horses or strand about a third of the population.

@BBCRadio4 With cameos by Pterry and @neilhimself themselves IIRC!

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself

This is such a good adaptation! Happy to see it get more attention.

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself Γ§a parle de Pratchett, donc je tag @Padre_Pio πŸ˜‰

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself

I just listened to first episode! This is fabulous!

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself Awww. BBC doesn't have the full version. I bought it on Audible a while back but had to return because the quality was so bad. Do you have a purchase link anywhere for the uncut version of the series?
@twynn What's missing?
@clacke From what I can remember just a few lines of dialogue here and there. For example, the radio version's first episode is like 28 minutes long, and the full version is 36 (I think). Numbers are from memory, but I rather have the full version at decent audio quality.

LB: A friend of mine is in this, somewhat briefly, playing Elvis. Terry is in it as well, also briefly, in a scene with Neil where they play coppers.

It's a truly wonderful adaptation.

@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself is there any way to listen offline - say on a North American transcontinental flight tomorrow?
@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself @settern this is great. It’s the first book I readβ€”when I was 14β€”that made me realise that books could be wonderfull and extrodinary.
@BBCRadio4 @neilhimself It immediately brought me cheer upon discovering that this works even in Sweden ❀️
