“AI is going to take our jobs!”
AI:
“AI is going to take our jobs!”
AI:
In the insurance company I work for, AI has already replaced some types of claims adjudication, and more is planned. In addition, staffing expectations are reduced now that providers are encouraged to use a fax process to get a set of highlight sheets rather than call in. It's all cost reduction, and that means staff reduction and other forms of insurance enshittification.
@halligan @aka_quant_noir @mav @smitty
Nah, they will rehire them back when shit hits the fan, but via some staffing company
“oh dang”
AI's gonna take some people's jobs.
Wish I were surprised, but I'm not in the slightest.
At least the responses to this thread got me a bunch of new people to follow.
AI can't take anything. Management might choose to give our jobs to AI; they may well make this choice even though AI is incapable of doing our jobs, because they're equally incapable of doing theirs.
@smitty I think you misspelled the word "files"
"AI is going to take our files!"
Nobody said AI would take our jobs *and be good at it*.
Well, middle managers and people who don't actually *do* the work say that. But other than them...
lmfao which "AI" bot said that? 🤣
@smitty CEO: Looks brilliant! Fire more staff, and give me a fat bonus.
Company: Crumbles
CEO: The employees did it! Oh, shiny new company here I come!
@smitty i'm imagining a time in the future where people have adjusted tools and apis to be the way AI code assistants mistakenly use them.

rm --im-not-ai -f foo.txt # remove foo overriding user writable bit.
