Harris voter - don't complain to me if you weren't.

Quit Xitter, came here. Love the idea of social media not controlled by a corporation.

I follow art, history, science, #Esperanto, #MardiPatisserie, and capybaras.

I try to contribute to political action here, but end up very grumpy.

Also, I "won" this: šŸ† for answering a Perl programming language question posed by another user. I display it with pride.

UPDATE: The Trump Feds arrested 15 people in Minneapolis / St. Paul this morning for exercising their constitutionally protect right to observe and document ICE operations.

It’s a blatant act of political intimidation and repression. And it’s a major escalation from them.

The press isn’t covering it yet, but they will be.

OK, so I just learned elsewhere that there's a secret group run by Peter Thiel (https://dialog.org/) for fancy people who want to be able to talk to each other 'off the record'.

Friends. If you go to the website, and open 'developer tools' in your browser, go to 'inspector' and drill down in the dom you will find a plain text list of members of this group.

There are something like 113 fancy people.

I will list them in this thread.

In April, 42 House Democrats voted with the GOP to reauthorize a little-known law that lets the regime spy on American citizens.

Thanks to your organizing, we got that number down to seven House Democrats during last week’s vote — and we blocked the reauthorization of FISA.

Most definitely. Gets the MAGAt heads exploding.

In 1866, a remarkable movement swept across the South. Thousands of formerly enslaved Black men and women appeared before Freedmen’s Bureau officials to legally register marriages that had often existed for years—-or even decades.

It was one of the largest acts of family recognition in American history, yet few Americans know the story today.

This is not a defense of Platner. Wish that Maine had chosen a better Democratic candidate. But, again unless something magical changes, he looks like he will be the Dem candidate.

Politics is not about picking a good person. It is great if you have that choice, but politics is about power and coalitions.

And right now it is crucial that the Democratic coalition takes over the Senate. Our collective future depends on it. Nothing else even comes close.
