Double entendres typically rely on a word that will lend itself naturally to idiomatic or widely recognized alternative meanings, but the word "refraction" itself is not commonly used as an idiom in everyday language. In a way, a double entendre bends a single wave of speech into different meanings like refraction bends a wave of light into different colors.
