Bessent is deceptively trying to get more money into circulation by having taxpayers under withhold. This inexorably means these taxpayers owe more at tax time (or if they're lucky, just have smaller refunds.) Don't let this be you.

Form W4 is complicated. I'm a tax pro and did 400+ tax returns this year. Saw more than a few who tried to be clever and game their W4. They clobbered themselves and ended owing big.

If you lower W2 withholding on your W4, you will owe more at tax time. It's just math! You always owe the same amount of tax. Withholding just adjusts when you pay it
