@gnuplusmatt As soon as someone finds a way to root a Verizon phone, I'll do it!
@tkk13909 @gnuplusmatt It's best to buy an unlocked Pixel where you can unlock OEM and the bootloader.
@wxboss @gnuplusmatt do you know where I could but an OEM unlockable Pixel 5?
@tkk13909 @gnuplusmatt I bought mine from Best Buy. Just be sure to buy it unlocked and not through a carrier.
@wxboss @gnuplusmatt I know not to buy a carrier locked phone but I've been looking around on ebay and apparently nobody can give me a guarantee that the phone will be unlocked.
@tkk13909 @gnuplusmatt Unfortunately, that is the challenge when going through a site like eBay for this kind of a purchase. I generally stick with a big box store for purchasing unlocked phones because it reduces my risk.
@wxboss @gnuplusmatt Yeah. problem is, I'm not really interested in the Pixel 6/7 because of the size but the Pixel 5 isn't really being sold as far as I'm aware.

@tkk13909 @gnuplusmatt I understand, Pixel 6&7 are quite a bit larger.

What were you looking to do with the Pixel? I ask only because certain operating systems such as GrapheneOS only support the device for as long as Google does and the Pixel 5 is quickly nearing its end of life support.

@wxboss @gnuplusmatt Well I'm currently using a Pixel 3 with Google services disabled and netguard blocking network traffic (it's a Verizon phone so I can't root it) so a Pixel 5 would be supported better than my current one and it would fit well in my hands.

On the point of ROMs, what does the LineageOS support look like?

@tkk13909 @gnuplusmatt I haven’t really looked into LineageOS or CalyxOS to be able to say, but I believe that CalyxOS isn’t affected by Google’s end of life support (but don’t quote me on that). I just mentioned that because some people are concerned about it. However, I’ve owned stock Android phones in the past that rarely received updates, and the precautions you’re currently taking do help quite a bit.
