I have two words to say to this radical Supreme Court: Term Limits
(Actually I have another two words to say to them, but Iβll keep them to myself.)

AGREED
The answer is a new constitution convention. There are deep structural problems and band aide solutions arenβt going to cut it.
@petteriusa @georgetakei @ewarrenfan
I'll just point out that some fear a new constitutional convention due to how corporate interests will try to meddle with it.
Better to handle articles one-by-one.
@georgetakei @Hawkmoon @ewarrenfan
There is no easy way out of this. As unreal as it seems that any corporate interest would be allowed anywhere near something like this I fear youβre right. Ugh.
@petteriusa @georgetakei @ewarrenfan
The corporate interest won't be allowed near it, but their collection of congresspeople that they purchased will be all over it.
A term limit of 10 years would be generous.
Thomas would've been out in 2002.
Even with 20 years, he'd have been out in 2012.
@georgetakei I worry about term limits when it takes only a handful of senators to block nominations until the sitting president's term ends. This court only happened because of senate shenanigans during Obama's last term.
I don't know what a good solution looks like. Probably something like "the supreme court may be the supreme law of the land, but its members are still subject to it, and shall be bound by the same rules of ethics that would apply to any court."
More than 40% of the funds behind California's proposition to limit congressional terms is coming from a secretive group in Washington that has ties to major figures in the Libertarian movement.
@georgetakei Term limits are a band-aid on a bullet hole. We have a built-in system for dealing with corrupt judges, but unfortunately that system is controlled by another corrupt group that refuses to act because it would negatively impact them.
We have no more political or legal options under our current system. The only recourse is to completely change the system.
@georgetakei no need to keep it to yourself, we're all thinking it.
Fuck you, SCOTUS.
