Thanks for the "how's beta 2 on your main phone" responses, everyone.
Consensus seems to be:
- stability and compatibility are great
- battery life sucks
- some weird bugs here and there, especially with image decoding and keyboard positioning
@marcoarment seems like a great summary.
I’m currently running it on my primary device after running it on an older phone for the first beta. I was impressed with the first beta’s stability so I jumped in.
I refuse to risk my watch though.
@marcoarment Apple Music seems to have issues in the car. Songs play in a crazy order. Instead of the next song in a playlist, it will play a previous song that isn’t even in the playlist and then just stop.
Maps also has been having trouble starting directions. Force quitting and trying again fixes it.
@marcoarment okay. The usual 3rd-party keyboard issues (SwiftKey) and maybe a couple of memory leaks, so I had to reboot once or twice through the week. Watchos 10 runs really well, I had only a small Airpods connection glitch. 30 hours of normal use on 44mm Series 8.
As you know, beta 3 usually brings regressions :)
@marcoarment all apps seem to work ok, but overall it's so-so. The keyboard loves to disappear, Spotlight search only works about 50% of the time, and it keeps telling me I'm out of storage even though I have 30GB+ free.
Battery life is pretty bad, but battery life has always sucked on the iPhone 14 Pro imo
@marcoarment Occasionally the keyboard stops working for me in Spotlight.
I don't have to reboot, usually just need to close search and try again.
@marcoarment mostly ok but the keyboard gets a bit buggy at times. Bad framing or covers the text field, like in iMessage. Most times I’m able to navigate out and back in and it’s fixed.
The dictation works extremely well in my experience. It even does a good to great job adding punctuation for you, so you don’t have to say comma, period, etc
@marcoarment 0 issues.
Even security sensitive app updated fine.
Some keyboard issues in 3rd party apps.
@marcoarment I’ve noticed some offline maps hiccups during longer drives in no coverage regions where I already downloaded the map.
Pretty clean going otherwise.
