Love the idea that any game is a "Mac Essential" but RoboCop: Rogue City in particular on this list cracks me up.
also $82.90 as a price on the App Store feels illegal.
Yes, I used AI to make this, specifically Codex.
Yes, I've already used this to keep track of a video export while on the toilet. Whole new level of doom scrolling.
There's a v1.1 update coming soon with some nifty features too.
The app collects no user data, there are no user accounts to create, and the iOS/iPadOS app connection happens over your local network (using Bonjour) so there's no cloud data transfer involved. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/inset-preview-any-screen-area/id6759235673
I have an app on the App Store. It's called Inset, a Mac utility I've wanted for a really long time. It lets you create a resizable floating live preview of any screen or app window region. You can place it anywhere on your screen to keep an eye on an export progress, an AFK game, a video call, whatever, even if you have other apps covering it.
Oh, and it comes with a companion iOS app so you can carry your live previews with you.
Recently upgraded to an M4 Max MacBook Pro with 64GB of RAM from my M1 Pro MBP that had 16GB of RAM and seeing THIS in the activity monitor is so beautiful.
Was at the point where my M1 Pro with 16GB was no longer cutting it for my work as a video editor (especially when After Effects is involved, but Premiere is a memory hog too.) Still impressive how much you *can* do with an M1 and so little RAM, but this is so much better.
Now I only wish I had more internal storage. Never satisfied 😅
