How’s iOS beta 2 on your main phones?

This is usually when I dive in.

Thanks for the "how's beta 2 on your main phone" responses, everyone.

Consensus seems to be:

- stability and compatibility are great
- battery life sucks
- some weird bugs here and there, especially with image decoding and keyboard positioning

@marcoarment Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm also dropping a lot of frames when scrolling.
@davemacdo @marcoarment Same here. SwiftUI FocusState is broken in ScrollViews, which seems like it may related to this and the keyboard issues.

@marcoarment seems like a great summary.

I’m currently running it on my primary device after running it on an older phone for the first beta. I was impressed with the first beta’s stability so I jumped in.

I refuse to risk my watch though.

@marcoarment Pretty much. Emphasis on crappy battery life and phone being hot essentially all the time.
@snazzyq @marcoarment My experience has been mostly the same on the minor bugs except for the battery life and heat have not been terrible for me and have been able to get buy mostly without any major lifestyle changes.
@marcoarment The new text selection handles (not sure what they’re officially called) are really wonky for me
@marcoarment I’m having great battery life on beta 2. As for the keyboard. Yeah, it’s acting a little crazy at times, but mostly usable.
@marcoarment mostly keyboard issues for me, battery is fine, some issues with stickers and new poster features but otherwise stable for daily driver
@marcoarment any one try Sonoma yet how is it?
@Noahtheboa @marcoarment beta 1 was horrible, beta 2 is perfectly fine on my MacBook Pro 16 M1.
@marcoarment Find My seems to ignore your saved locations so I get notified I left my luggage behind whenever I leave my house. Also, the mail app doesn’t update the unread badge unless you launch it
@marcoarment battery has been okay for me. weirdly i thought beta 1 was more stable!
@helvetica @marcoarment it definitely was for me. 2 has been buggier overall, especially the keyboard but also random other freezes/hiccups. Looking forward to beta 3
@helvetica @marcoarment In my experience beta 1 of the new OSes is almost always more stable than beta 2. Beta 1 they polish up in time for WWDC and take their time and freeze early. Beta 2 is a rushed reactionary release after beta 1 and often has regressions (e.g. the weird image rendering thing in beta 2 that wasn't in beta 1)

@marcoarment Apple Music seems to have issues in the car. Songs play in a crazy order. Instead of the next song in a playlist, it will play a previous song that isn’t even in the playlist and then just stop.

Maps also has been having trouble starting directions. Force quitting and trying again fixes it.

@marcoarment for the first time I regret installing the bets so early on my main phone. Cellular modem seems to crash when I’m out of the house every 90 mins. I’ll just loose mobile data until I toggle airplane mode…
@marcoarment 2FA codes text messages don't fill when tapping them in the bar above the keyboard. Even with the new feature that deletes these types of text messages turned off.
@marcoarment was late to respond but generally agree with this consensus.
@marcoarment live voicemail is still wonky. Had to turn it off until I test it on the next beta.
@marcoarment yeah, I would agree with that summary.
@marcoarment My iPhone 12 is also constantly red hot after like five minutes of use. A few times it’s refused to charge until it’s cooled down, but it’s gotten really hot BECAUSE it was charging. Hoping b3 lands very soon!
