Fun fact: during early development the gonads of the human fetus remain undifferentiated; that is, all fetal genitalia are the same and are phenotypically female.

- So, if biological sex can't be changed,
- And if life starts at conception,
- Then all men are trans.

Sorry, Republican men. You made the rules.

@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly yep biology was always my strong point
@morri @WearsHats @LadyDragonfly
Are those who do not develop past this point called Republicans?
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly some humans remain locked in their asshole state for the rest of their life 🤭
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly
...and quite a few don't develop from there. They go on to become GOP politicians or NRA fanboys. 🤷😵‍💫
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly Some people never change.
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly But of course. Otherwise one would be in no time full of shit
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly Is it possible that some folks never develop past that point? 🤔(Thinking of several extremist politicians.)
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly and Republicans never develop any further than that.
@WearsHats some people seem to have stopped growing at that very point.

@WearsHats
Yes. I already know this because I know that this is at this exact moment when our branch of genome started to diverges from the one of octopuses, because in egg they form mouth before anus

@LadyDragonfly

@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly some never grew out of that phase
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly most people never leave that stage
@WearsHats @LadyDragonfly once the digestive tract joins up, we essentially have the same topology as a ring donut. Also you can’t have a 2d person as their digestive tract would split them in half. I learned this in Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time. Also, essentially, the surfaces of your digestive tract are the outside of your body, topographically speaking.
Men lose Y chromosomes as they age. It may be harming their hearts

Study in mice is first to directly test health effects of losing male chromosome

@mlbellar @LadyDragonfly

So female is the alpha and omega of human development and temporarily developing into a male is just a 49% aberration? 😏 (for procreation purposes mayhaps?)

@brainwreck @mlbellar @LadyDragonfly
Yep, that sounds about right. Smarter, more humane, nurturing, generous, tender... Be like women. Oh, and just bask in the glow of the fact that they allow us to share the Earth with them.
@wellingtonrock @mlbellar @LadyDragonfly We're talking chromosomes and gametes here, society's gender roles have nothing to do with it.

@brainwreck @wellingtonrock @LadyDragonfly

If society's gender roles are fixed when natures aren't, things can get out of sync, just saying

@brainwreck @wellingtonrock @mlbellar

If chromosomes and gametes have the ultimate say in determining ones gender,
Then all old men are women.

Sorry, Republicans, you made the rules again.

@LadyDragonfly
I don't think it is the same.
Isn't female XX and Male XY?
And if part of Y lost more it doesn't make XX it makes it XI
@LadyDragonfly @brainwreck @wellingtonrock @mlbellar
This kinda breaks down the original argument.
If it’s the chromosomes that are the arbiter, then men were never females to begin with since the second chromosome is added by the sperm and therefore present at conception.
If the chromosome isn’t the arbiter then this article, instead, doesn’t suggest that sex is changed with age.
The first toot was better on its own 😉
@LadyDragonfly @brainwreck @wellingtonrock @mlbellar (add to that, that the article isn’t suggesting that men gets two X chromosomes with age, they’re losing the Y, which isn’t the same)

@wellingtonrock @brainwreck @LadyDragonfly

Our beloved Earth, and all this life which she has birthed

@LadyDragonfly well, this needs to get boosted
a LOT
@LadyDragonfly All those Republican men should bend over, grab their ankles and take it........like a man.

The use of Vaseline or KY Jelly is optional. 😜
@LadyDragonfly No worry to me! In 2001 (38y) I finally started accepting my feminine side. Habe felt progressively more whole / connected, ever since. 😊
@LadyDragonfly this is a fact indeed. I was lucky to follow the “old fashioned” dental study which was far more broad medical in the 70-ties and one of the anatomical professors in Amsterdam extensively teached on this topic.
@LadyDragonfly are trans women even trans, or are they double trans? 🤔🏳️‍⚧️

@yetzt

The fun implication here is that all "trans women" are cisgender women, who transitioned once as a fetus, and then de-transitioned back to womanhood after leaving the womb.

Turns out trans women ARE women. Sorry, Republicans, you made the rules.

@LadyDragonfly @aral that’s why they are no obsessed with chromosomes.

Which fits in nicely with their “some cultures/dna are just more worthy than others” for immigration.

The genetic determination argument is the new skull measuring.

@Atomicbutterfly @aral

Fun bonus fact:

As men age, they slowly start losing Y chromosomes from their cells. Meaning that, from a chromosome standpoint, all old men are single-X women.

@LadyDragonfly
When I was at school, long, long ago, we were presented with several dozen freshly hatched chicks and bottles of testosterone an oestrogen.
We were instructed to paint the combs of some of the chickens with one hormone and the rest with the other.
Sure enough they developed without reference to genetics.
Ethical approval? What even is that?
@LadyDragonfly I copied this post on FB. I didn't repost it so it wouldn't be tied back to you or this site. Just a little experiment.
@LadyDragonfly Hey, everybody loves Jurassic Park movies where the essential plot element is that dinosaurs can change sex and thus mate and produce offspring on their own.
@LadyDragonfly Also renders CIS Male as a non-sequitur!
Well Done
@LadyDragonfly: By the same token, let's induce headaches in people who try to deliberately make change of gender in official documents impossible by telling them about the possibility of a person transitioning before their state even first sees any document about their gender. Perhaps even ask them about how such a person could regret and detransition in their gender-straightjacketed state.

@riley @LadyDragonfly Thinking off to one side here, I wonder why any gender marker is necessary for state documents.

Hardly their business.

@riley @LadyDragonfly @gilesforyou We used to have different pension ages for men and women in the UK, so that would have been a relevant case.

@gilesforyou: They used to not appear in most documents, in fact. A major push for normalising gender in state documents was the introduction of birth certificates, and I'm not making this up, for racist purposes of anti-trans kind: for locking people into the race they got assigned at birth.

https://archive.is/XJBpy

@LadyDragonfly

@riley @LadyDragonfly I can believe it. All the more reason to toss the practice.

I know plenty of trans individuals whose lives would be made easier. (And in a small way myself, I identify far more as "fellow" than "male".)

@LadyDragonfly You cannot argue with these people. They will never cede ground to you via reason.

They never have, and they never will. https://www.jstor.org/stable/23512931 - Sartre saw this coming.

@kittylyst While this is true, it does not mean we should keep silent. Silence is the tool of the enemy. Silence is consent. I speak not because I think I'm going to persuade my oppressors, but because not speaking grants them victory.
@kittylyst @LadyDragonfly
Right, the fanatics are fanatics.
But there are still undecided people. Those who, for instance, vote Republican for economic reasons (which is a different argument and I'm not going there).
Some at least of those people are open to argument.

@LadyDragonfly

As far as I know, all life on earth started female, and men came to the world by mother nature's mystery, not by God's purpose.
But try to tell this to a male without being stupidly smiled on...

@LadyDragonfly I would actually love someone in a "life begins at conception" jurisdiction to use this as a gender change justification. Let the courts tie themselves in knots.
@LadyDragonfly Ideology wilts under the heat of common sense again. Also, latest pro-gun talking point is that people are the problem, not guns: So why make it easier for problematic environment to be filled with guns?
