Today is an exciting day. It's the launch day of Ivory for Macs!

@mark I am going to be SO disappointed if it doesn’t come with a free sub to Max, now 😏
@mark Brilliant news, looking forward to switching to the release version.
@mark You probably shouldn’t associate Ivory with an app that provide such a poor experience on Apple’s platforms.
@platkus are you confused? The word max has existed for decades.
@Craktok I think you're the one who is confused. That's not just the word max. It's the logo of a new streaming service with subpar apps for Apple's platforms.
New 'Max' Streaming Service Launches, Replacing HBO Max

Warner Bros. today launches its new "Max" streaming service that merges HBO Max and Discovery+ content, and the new rebranded app is already...

MacRumors

@platkus

OK m9 but I am still none the wiser as to what that has to do with Ivory 🤷🏼‍♂️

@C0NQUIST4D0R Look at the picture Mark posted announcing Ivory for Mac. The Ivory mascot is sitting next to the new Max streaming service logo.

@platkus

Yeah, I guess it’s like one of these modern “pun” type jokes or something?

Which is to say I don’t think they were overly trying to associate themselves with HBO, and even if they were, nor am I really arsed TBQHWY 😻

@C0NQUIST4D0R I feel like this isn’t really worth all the explaining, but since we’ve gone this far…
Yes, they were doing it on purpose because both Ivory for Mac and the new Max streaming service both launched today.

My point was that Ivory is a great Mac app, but the new apps for Max suck and are worse than the previous HBOMAX apps. And thus they might not want to associate their great app with such crap.

@platkus

Yeah I get all that, but my point remains - most likely no-one using Ivory *really* cares enough about that HBO or Max shit to make the connection that you have

(I’m in UK, YMMV)

@mark wait, there was bigger announcement that Ivory is being intergrated into Max ?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@mark Congratulations! is it an independent subscription or can I use it with my existing iOS subscription plan?
@Nfoonf @mark if you bought the Premier "extra snacks" subscription when Ivory for iOS came out, it's included. Else you either have to upgrade or buy it separately
@mark I'm so excited (also for the team). But don't you just hate App Store search …
@mark Congratulations to you and Paul!!

App Store
@dgoldsmith @mark So strange! I can read the story but not download the Mac app yet 😄 Just tells me it's not compatible with my device! The story is out there before the app actually launches I guess?
@MikeMcNamara @mark I think you might be finding the iOS version if you're getting "not compatible with your device.” The macOS version isn't showing up in searches yet (at least for me), only the story (where the “GET" button is disabled).
@mark yay, congratulations 😄👏
@mark congrats to you and the team!! 🎉 How exciting!
@mark not complaining because I know how well you two make apps, but made me laugh a bit:
Text stays truncated on 2 lines, which say “a great experience is ev..” and in the “Attention to details” paragraph 😃
@mark i can tell you the launch of Ivory for Mac has been much smoother for me than the launch of Max for which i am not the least bit surprised
@mark I'm just now noticing the elephant is sitting next to the Max logo.
@majorlinux I made that at the time HBO changed their branding to Max. 😅
@mark Oh, okay. Thought I was buggin' for a second.
