Me when I have friends over for dinner: “so we’ll start with this charcuterie plate and some cocktails and then we’ll have some seared tuna with seasoned quinoa and mixed roasted veggies. That’ll pair great with this wine! And for dessert I’ve made a homemade apple tart!”

Me on my own for dinner: “so we put the spoon in the jar of peanut butter and we dig”

@sommer I immediately thought of this:

Here’s a fun game: break your toaster and see if mealsother than breakfast are effected. If they are then you are like me, a lazy piece of shit

@sommer he’s so funny. Some of his stuff gets burned into my brain.
@sommer Ohhhhh, miss fancy pants here, using a spooooon! I guess you think you're too good to use your fingers like the rest of us plebs!! 😭 😭 😭
@sommer Me, an epicure: pour some honey into the peanut butter jar first
@sommer
Peanut Butter is one of life’s simple pleasures
@sommer I want to be invited over for a dinner party and be handed a jar of peanut butter upon my arrival haha.
@dcm @sommer This may be my ideal dinner party?
@erynofwales @dcm haha you two are MORE then welcome to come by for a PB party any time
@sommer and for the dessert course, also a spoon in peanut butter but with some chocolate chips borrowed from the baking shelf sprinkled on top!
@sommer @Migueldeicaza So true. For some reason, cooking for others is fun, cooking for myself is boring.

@sommer Jeg elsker peanøttsmør!

Was following you on Twitter still from all the accessibility goodness, although I’m rarely on there now. Saw you had a Mastodon pinned, and just gotta say peanut butter lovers and polyglots are the coolest people.

@xan !! I'm rarely on Twitter now as well tho I do try to x-post the a11y stuff when I remember. Love to have another PB lover around! What other languages do you love?!

@sommer dabbled in Norwegian for a year till transitioning more over to Swedish, just easier to get the books I wanted to try to read. I played around with Esperanto courses for a couple months but since it’s constructed it was more just for fun, and I kind of fell out of it. I’m torn on which one to really dig into next. Indonesian is one I’m strongly considering.

Crunchy or creamy?

@xan I'm currently doing Norwegian and loving it. Thinking of getting a private tutor to move things along since speaking is my favorite part. Also currently focused on ASL. I'd be curious to hear from you the differences your noticing between Swedish and Norwegian!

I'm a crunchy gal! you? Favorite brand or fresh ground?

@sommer 1/2 Ohh, maybe I should do ASL next as well. I am so jealous of how much of it my friends kid knows already and she’s three! Do you have any favorite apps or sites for learning it? I didn’t see it on Duo, Babbel, or Drops which is a shame.

This will be a lot more interesting and useful than just learning another spoken one and should scratch a different kind of itch I think if that makes sense lol.

@xan I’m doing ASL classes on Zoom. I wasn’t able to find a good app for it but I’m really enjoying my courses! Working with https://www.signlanguagecenter.com

@sommer ohh that’s very fairly priced too. Yeah all of the apps seemed a little pricey for how they looked and how the reviews were sadly. I wish any of the big language apps would step up to the challenge and build a really high quality course for it.

@sommer 2/2

Norwegian and Swedish are so similar, I caught up to where I was in Norwegian after a year in those 3 apps in under 2 months in Swedish. A lot of the words are either the same or only a few letters off. Mostly it was just much easier access to more ebooks.

If I’m doing store bought peanut butter I usually go creamy but I like making my own crunchy at home in the Vitamix. Elliot’s Spicy Thai was one of my favorite brands but I think it’s discontinued.
