I hate not having a job. I just want to make cool apps. If you need an #iOS or #macOS developer, I've been doing this since 2008. I worked at Apple on the Reminders app, and I've got lots of #SwiftUI and #Swift experience. I'm really quite the catch.

These are such great guiding principles. I have found several (I won’t say “numerous,” but definitely several) tasks where AI is quite valuable, and these questions align really well with those things.

So many things I see companies (and individuals, but especially companies) try to do with AI and then fail could have been caught early by asking these questions.

When considering whether to use AI for something, perhaps we can ask: 1. Am I able to check its output for correctness? 2. If not, is it ok if it is wrong? 3. Would a human have learned something from doing this task themselves? 4. Will this make things harder for other humans in the future?

Escape from Tutorial Hell is now available!

Read all about it and check out a free sample at https://troz.net/post/2025/new-book:-escape-from-tutorial-hell/

Buy it from Gumroad at https://sarahreichelt.gumroad.com/l/iqdry

If you bought the pre-release, you can update now through your Gumroad library. And if you've had time to read any of it, I'd really appreciate a rating or review.

Please boost this post as the book is not in my usual style and will appeal to a broader audience.

So I said fine, I'll do his things and swapped in a new ethernet cable. And I'll be damned if that stopped the problem, and now I haven't had a dropout in over two weeks now.

No big point here, just felt like sharing. It's OK to follow the stupid dumb flow chart sometimes! 3/3

So I emailed their support, described my setup, what was happening, the steps I had already taken, etc. I got a prompt response back, and to the rep's credit, he didn't repeat any of the things I had listed that I'd already done. But the initial recommendation was things like check the power cable, swap out the ethernet cable, try plugging in a different port, all that jazz. 2/

I'm normally pretty skeptical of companies tech support flows that they insist on putting you through, but sometimes it's totally the right call.

I use Eero for my wifi setup, and for months, every once in a while (like once every other day), the network would drop out for maybe two minutes or so, then come back up like normal. It was driving me batty because it was so random, and it was over before I could even try troubleshooting steps. 1/

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ve been made redundant at my job. If you want to hire an excellent Apple platforms developer (iOS, etc.) with 17 years of experience, time at Apple, and lots of SwiftUI experience, or a great Ruby on Rails developer, reach out.

Full-time or freelance. Ready to go immediately. Please spread the word. #Swift #RubyOnRails #GetFediHired

⭐️ I have finally published the source repository for Coppice, @pilky's mind-mapping app, as per his final wishes.

It is provided as-is, without a license, to help prospective #AppKit developers learn from a longtime Mac developer who really sweated the details, and always went out of his way to provide help to people who needed it.
