New data shows for-profit clinics are charging significantly more for surgeries.
1.Cataract surgery costs an average of $800 at a public hospital but almost $1,200 at a for-profit clinic.
2. Hip and knee replacement costs anywhere from $10,000 to $12,000 at a public hospital but as much as $28,000 at a for-profit clinic.
CityNews contacted Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s Minister of Health, for comment but has not received a response.

And as Canada's largest (and richest) province, #Ontario's health privatization feels like the beginning of the end of #Canada's universal healthcare.
Hospital CEOs, business people & corporate profiteers "who have been put in charge need to be replaced — along with the govts that do their bidding — by representatives for health care workers, communities, & medical professionals committed to the cause of universal, public provision."
