This is JUST the first step in saving the Texas Observer. We have enough money to keep our doors open, pay writers and the bills, but we'll need more help to make our publication sustainable. We're a regional newspaper based in Winnipeg; we don't often report on events outside Manitoba, unless they affect or involve Manitobans.
However we do publish wire-service news from around the globe, so if The Associated Press reports on this matter it would likely appear on our pages.
Oh yes, of course, but the news here relates to journalism on the Fediverse, and this is the first real test of "is it worthwhile" and our friends in Texas have proven now that, in their case, however special it may be, yes, it is VERY worthwhile. And so I thought it might interest you :)
