Originally, I planned to check my backlog and choose a new book today. However, I found myself sleepless last night, so I left the bed, grabbed the e-reader and chose what seemed the most appealing at this moment.

Now I'm finally reading the first full-length #Murderbot novel in the #TheMurderbotDiaries series by #MarthaWells: #NetworkEffect. The original short stories played an important role in reconnecting me with reading, back around 2019/20. #amReading #Books #Bookstodon #SciFi #SFFBooks

@Sven I've had a hard time being motivated to read books since about 2016 (Trump era messing with my brain). But I've managed all of #TheExpanse books and, more recently, #Murderbot books. Yes, the Murderbot stories (you should definitely read the first one, All Systems Red) suck you in.

@kctipton It was the other way around for me. I started reading again because the Murderbot stories felt interesting and weren't “scary“ due to their short length. After the four novellas, I think I read one or two additional books and then felt ready to take on something bigger again. That's when I started binging through the Expanse books. 😄

Turn off the news. Stop listening. Stop reading, stop watching.

It takes a few months, but your quality of life gets better. It just gets better - and you realize you really don’t need all that stimuli.
