Another massive holy cow huge piece of news, so this will probably get about ten likes and disappear into the twitterhole:

CDC say this: "the virus that causes COVID-19, can have lasting effects on nearly every organ and organ system of the body weeks, months, and potentially years after infection"

How the fuck is this not news everywhere?

Tern is one of the good 'uns. It's more convenient for governments to ignore this, all the while wondering why so many people have left the work force. It's hugely scary.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy

I think people are at some sort of "bleak acceptance" phase of this thing. Which, by the way, we *shouldnt* be, because none of this needs to be innevitable.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy
Problem is "emerging evidence suggests". Not hard evidence. This will take a few more years to ascertain.
@morgun @DenisCOVIDinfoguy I dunno, the numbers are pretty damning - there was a paper not long ago, a survey based on I think the US Navy medical records database [CORRECTION: US Department of Veterans Affairs’ national healthcare database], and the correlation between number of Covid infections and increased likelihood of sequelae in organ systems all over the shop, not to mention early death, was pretty clear. I get that correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, but even so.
Acute and postacute sequelae associated with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection - Nature Medicine

A new analysis using US Department of Veterans Affairs databases showed that reinfection is associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality, hospitalization and a wide range of long COVID complications in individuals who have had SARS-CoV-2 compared to those with no reinfection.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy I've heard this before as well, the effort to bury and ignore this info by capitalist death cultists and the CDC is massive. Following the people's CDC is helpful though
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy my doctors told me very somberly that the virus attacks every organ and is foremost a vascular disease. Yet, people don't know, or are unwilling to know this.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy
This was news a couple of years ago, when doctors treating covid found it attacking every other organ, not just the lungs.
@avertexofmyown @DenisCOVIDinfoguy Sadly I t’s still #News untill more than a few people know about it. #Covid #LongCovid

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy

And, 'While vaccinations reduce probability hospitalized patients die from #Covid19, but still an indirect knock-on effect for other health outcomes; & #NHS absence rates have negative implications for health care provision & excess mortality.' @fetzert & Prof Rauh.

#Covid UK latest:
🦠1,233,947 predicted current symptomatic #Covid infections @Join_ZOE.
🦠1,504,600 @ONS w/ending 21 Feb 2023
🏥Each new wave of infections means yet another wave of hospitalisations, then a further wave of deaths.
The NHS at or perhaps now beyond breaking point, those becoming unwell diverting vital services...

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy

Why isn't it big news?

At least in the US, most conservatives do not believe or trust doctors and infectious disease experts because former President Trump downplayed the effects of COVID-19.

Hell, over 1 million Americans have died of the diese and my conservative friends still say the whole thing was a hoax.

As a nation, we should be embarrassed but we don't even call out people who call COVID a hoax 3 years latter. I do but I'm a nobody.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy this just gives me anxiety I’ve had that damn virus twice.
@MATAK79 @DenisCOVIDinfoguy same, and I was immunocompromised before I got it!!
