We've had over 1.3K candidates apply to the 3 open positions at Mastodon so far, which is very exciting, but getting through them as such a small team is taking its time. Getting somewhere though!
@Gargron You obviously need to hire more people in order to work through the applicants.
@Gargron give them some existing bug for fix and decide based on speed & quality of solution
@Gargron that explains why there is a market for ATS! May you find the right team members.
@xtel @Gargron I’d go further and say that’s why AI-enabled ATS are so attractive. Granted I find them wrong to use but I’d rather have a longer hiring process to personally screen applicants as you find a lot of interesting people that way.
@Gargron that's impressive :-) and I wouldn't want to be a HR person going through the pile of resumes. I'm pretty sure that most of the candidates are people with very strong programming backgrounds and it will be really hard to pick the right one. Good luck !

@Gargron

Isn't that what AI is for?

@Gargron
Do you need to hire a team to review resumes to hire a team?
@Gargron I hope you will start improving this social network as soon as possible
@Gargron Having just worked though a 800 or so applicant pool with a sizable team you have my absolute sympathies.
@Gargron
1.3K? Ist das Enthusiasmus oder ist der IT-Arbeitsmarkt so schlecht?
Nö, der Markt ist richtig gut für IT-Leute gerade aber viele möchten eine sinnvolle Arbeit - und das gibt es nur selten im Angebot.

@Gargron Thanks, for update, Eugen, & good luck finding best candidates ✌🏼

@Gargron just hire all of them! problem solved 😎
@Gargron Just let them print the last months coding output and rate them by weight.
I heard successful social media CEOs do it that way ;)
@Gargron Take a percentage, divide them up.
@Gargron Sounds like a Denial-of-Service attack.
@Gargron I’m interested in knowing if you use an ATS, and if yes, which one.

@Gargron

You have my sympathies

@Gargron 1.3k! I hope you find whom you're looking for
@Gargron Thank you for all the work you do on Mastodon!
@Gargron Keep up the good work
@Gargron I'am a Human Resources manager with expertise in Multinational Team Management and Volunteering Organization if you need any help call me on discord William.rh
@Gargron Very happy Mastodon is getting so much attention, but the fact that there are so many free agents in the job market is terrifying.
@wielgolaski Are you assuming that they're all unemployed..?
@Gargron Not all of them, of course. But some for sure, and the market is incredibly oversaturated at the moment. Competing against thousands of applicants is not fun sadly 🙁
