Having a fiber connection means I can now try GeForce Now's Ultimate tier, which is being upgraded to 4080 GPUs in some European server locations.

Here's Cyberpunk 2077, at Ray-Tracing Ultra quality, never dropping below 60fps. I am *streaming* this game on my iPhone via a web app.

Absolutely wild.

In more gaming news: I've been playing Metroid Prime Remastered with my portable OLED display in bed at night and it's GLORIOUS. Still can't believe Nintendo just dropped this.

The third-party "dock" I use on my nightstand: https://www.genkithings.com/products/covert-dock-mini

More Metroid Prime Remastered goodness. What a sensational game this is.

(Upscaled and anti-aliased 4K screenshots, captured with mClassic + 4K Gamer Pro HDMI enhancers.)

@viticci if Nintendo does release a 4K Switch, I sure hope this game gets updated for it too!
@viticci Do you find the mClassic or 4kgp worthwhile? They’re both pretty pricey and I don’t know I want to drop the $
@viticci are you upsacling in real time (like attached to your Switch dock) or something else? I found the remaster sublime and is really brining the OG Game Cube feels.
@craigtheguru Real-time!
@viticci What's the box you're using? I’d love to drop it in to my setup! The uprez is one thing but the fakey HDR (similar to how the OLED Switch screen looks) will be huge!
@viticci is it just me or is there less compression here than on Twitter - looks freaking great
@viticci Looks like we are about the same length into the game! I had never played it before and I’m loving it. Feels like a new game.
@viticci My NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-pad has just shipped, waiting for that before going in
@viticci I’m tempted, even though I don’t really have time to play an additional game. The next Zelda is just around the corner…
Does Metroid come anywhere near the original Marathon trilogy in storytelling?
@viticci never played this. What is it similar to? Doom?
@viticci are you daisy chaining the mClassic and 4K Gamer Pro or are you using them in different contexts?
@justinhiltz yes that's what I'm doing
@viticci awesome, thank you. Just purchased them both. Amazon US had a coupon for the 4K.
@viticci Curious as to why the two layers of enhancement? Are they more than the sum of their parts together?
@viticci Any advice on how to play and not get dizzy? I could not play more than 30 min
@viticci oh neat! do you prop this up in bed or on the nightstand?
@rardk64 it has its own folio thing that folds and props it up
@viticci where do you prop it up though? If you’re on your bed, do you prop the display on your long thighs? How does it stay stable?
@viticci Oh no. I’m going to lose sooooo much time now.

@viticci Your gaming habits are weird, has anyone told you that?

Portable screens, playing PC titles with streaming via Phone...

What's next? Do you play a Flight simulator with a Thrustmaster Rally Wheel?

@proximacentauri Well, to be fair I also have a gaming PC with a 3080ti, but I like options.
@viticci have you tried using the mClassic upscaler? I’m using it with my Switch going into a 1440p display and it looks great. https://www.marseilleinc.com/buy-mclassic/

@john Had no idea this existed! Thank you. Ordered one and will report back.
@viticci What’s your strategy for switching between the portable display and your tv for stationary consoles? I’m *this* close to pulling the trigger on one for my PS5 but don’t wanna futz with HDMI cables every time if possible
@viticci wow, I was going to say those look good for screenshots but the fact that they are actual photos is even better.
@viticci I love that tiny dock so much! Now I'm thinking about that OLED portable screen...
@viticci Wow, there are a lot of portable monitors listed. I had no idea. I suppose all you need is a USB-C port.
@viticci how do you handle audio? THrough the monitor speakers? with headphones connected to the switch? Something else?
@Andrev Bluetooth earbuds to the switch
@viticci Have been really enjoying this game so well done and great on the OLED switch
@viticci I just finished replaying through Metroid Prime on my Steam Deck and turned around, bought and started playing this. It looks amazing. One of my favorite games.
@viticci if you keep posting gaming pics like these I’ll have no money left in my wallet
@viticci I almost spent $3,000+ on a gaming PC until I received the notification of the upgrade and patiently awaiting the upgrade to check it out. 😊
@viticci How does it look when an iPhone/iPad is connected to a TV?
@jeffkibuule I haven't tried that yet but will soon!
@viticci Thanks. Appreciate the reply. It would also be cool to see what it looks like when an iPad Pro is connected to a Studio Display. I myself have been interested for awhile and don’t really want a gaming PC.
@jeffkibuule Totally works! No latency and plays great.

@viticci We’ve had fibre for about 7 years in an apartment we lived in and then our home. We are looking to move again to a more rural location, and the first thing I told the agent was “it has to have fibre NBN”

(*) National Broadband Network .. our federally rolled out Internet infrastructure that was supposed to be fibre everywhere then successive governments watered down - so now it’s sort of pot luck that you get glorious fibre or copper and sellotape and prayers.

@viticci we’ve come a LONG way since OnLive. 😳
@viticci I wish fiber was available in my neighborhood
@viticci is there a point to owning a gaming pc if I can just do this on an ipad or a Mac?

@bleakfuture @viticci comes down to network speed / data caps (if applicable), and at least for me I very much notice the lag over Wi-Fi, but it’s OK when whatever I’m playing on is plugged straight to the router.

Some people are more sensitive to that lag than others.

Plus there’s the people who prefer to own physical. With services like these if/when they shut down you typically don’t have access to your “purchases” any longer.

@Sonikku @viticci that makes sense. I’m flipping my 3070 based gaming pc tomorrow for an M2 Pro Mini because I game so infrequently. I legitimately tried to give windows a chance but I just felt so boxed in.
@bleakfuture @viticci I’ve just gotten too lazy and old to keep up with PC gaming. Was great from my teens to early 30’s but now I just buy the newest PlayStation and keep myself occupied with emulators for older systems. Macs for computing.

@Sonikku @viticci actually had a 4K TV delivered today for my office so I can connect a PS5 to it. That was prompted by reading that the new wizard game everyone hates simply can’t run 4K ultra settings with all the goodies @ 60fps

Like the hardware to do it doesn’t exist. 4090 gets you 59fps. A 4090 costs more than my first car and it struggles with a current game.

PS5 will be fine.

@bleakfuture @viticci yeah, there’s only a few games hitting native 4k60 on consoles too (GT7 and Doom Eternal come to mind) but I do like that many console games these days have various performance and resolution options depending on your preference.

If the choice is 4K30 or like 1440p60 I’m taking the frame rate all day long. Then you have crazy people like Insomniac Games managing to do 60fps and raytracing on console.

At 43 I just prefer convenience and not having to chase the bleeding edge upgrades and tweaking everything. Just let me start a game and give me 2 or 3 graphics options and call it a day.

@viticci enjoy! I’m about 50 hours into my play through
