Hi #running Mastodon

Let's talk about cadence

🏃🏻‍♀️ Is 180 spm optimal? Why? why not?
🏃🏻‍♀️ Do you worry about cadence in the majority of your training?
🏃🏻‍♀️ Better to hit a specific SPM for short drills or focus on it for longer stretches?
🏃🏻‍♀️ Is it overrated?

@bobzyeruncle I don't worry about my cadence at all; I look at the number occasionally, but it doesn't affect me. Then again, I'm not training for anything specific. I enjoy #running, sometimes quicker than others.
@bobzyeruncle I never really paid attention to cadence. Since last year it's all about bpm for me! :D

@bobzyeruncle
I don't really check it often but I tend to get around 180 spm. The odd thing is that it's not about how fast I am going. I have clocked 180 spm on a 3 hour marathon and a 90 minute 10k. The only thing that really throws it off for me is trail running but that's to be expected on the big climbs.

@JustBrogrammer uuufff. Trails are a killer. :-)
@bobzyeruncle
They are until they're not. I injured myself going back to roads and am looking forward to getting back on trails next month.
