The imposter "George Santos," who should be immediately removed from the House chamber by Capitol Police as a grave national security risk, was funded by non-existent donors. He's a walking #Russian money-laundering operation. #GOP #USpol #politics https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/01/we-tried-to-call-the-top-donors-to-george-santos-2020-campaign-many-dont-seem-to-exist/
We tried to call the top donors to George Santos' 2020 campaign. Many don’t seem to exist.

The list of matters to investigate keeps growing.

Mother Jones
@stevesilberman The entire House leadership on the republican side are criminals, owned by Russia. When are they going to be investigated, let alone arrested?

@Tbsa @stevesilberman I guess one of the points of authoritarian-leaning politics is to prove they are, above the rules?

I mean, this is what ATTRACTS voters to people like Santos and Trump.

#authoritarian #conservatism #loves #strongmen

@GatekeepKen @gimulnautti @Tbsa @stevesilberman I’ve been going viral that all humans start greeting each other this way There’d be no more wars but maybe a little growling Boost this please so Mastadonians can get on board
@stevesilberman Russian Money Laundering Exhibit A. Yet, McCarthy and the House Republicans stand by their man.

@stevesilberman

How stupid are we as a nation to allow this fraud to continue... it's just flat dumb...

@stevesilberman The Mother Jones article is interesting, but it seems a wishful leap of logic to conclude that Russian funding is the only possible explanation for Santos' many campaign funding discrepancies. I'm going to wait for some evidence before repeating that.
Republican George Devolder-Santos Got Cash From Andrew Intrater Cousin of Russian Oligarch Viktor Vekselberg

Andrew Intrater, money manager to Russian Viktor Vekselberg, gave $56,100 to committees tied to Rep.-elect George Devolder-Santos, who called Ukraine “totalitarian.”

The Daily Beast

@stevesilberman Actually, I consume news for 20-45 hours a week on average -- to the point that it can be a problem.

The Daily Beast story is bigger on claims and shorter on evidence than the Mother Jones story, and it doesn't discredit my statement that Russian funding isn't the only possible explanation.

When I concluded that story, the Beast pushed me into "The Story of the World’s Richest Dog Involves a Shocking Number of Sex Parties," reminding me why I don't go there.

@stevesilberman

"A search of various databases reveals no one in the United States named Victoria or Jonathan Regor. Moreover, there is nobody by any name living at 45 New Mexico Street in Jackson. That address doesn’t exist. There is a New Mexico Street in Jackson, but the numbers end in the 20s, according to Google Maps and a resident of the street."

The USPS has an electronic database of all addresses. Seems like we should do some automatic vetting of addresses for things like political donations.

@stevesilberman If I was a Democrat representative I would do everything in my power to keep Santos in office as long as possible, as a symbol of how gullible Republican voters had been. I would keep investigating him and getting as much damning evidence against him and all others, for sure.
@stevesilberman I say leave him right there. Put him in committees. Make him leader. Give him lots of visibility. He is the perfect representation of the Republicans, and should stay there as reminder.
