Billionaires should not set climate policy.
Billionaires should not set water policy.
Billionaires should not be setting any policy.
Billionaires should not be platformed to give opinion on crises & injustices they helped create & have financial stakes in monopolizing policies on.
Billionaires should not exist.
@farhanasultana Absolutely. They are artificial and only exist because they corrupt, overpower or bully everyone else..which is dressed up as potency and beneficence.
I would take it all off them and jail them for natural life terms.
@farhanasultana Agreed on all points.
@farhanasultana And as I was reading through, I was looking forward to adding the last point, but i was happy to see you took care of it. :)
@MysticaRose @farhanasultana
Damn.
Let's seize the House of Reps until all the fu*kin' repubs resign.
Wait, they're Republicans.
They aren't cognitively evolved enough to resign.
Frick.

@south_lib @farhanasultana

With literal enemies of the State in charge of the House, we're well and truly, as you put it, fricked😕

@south_lib @MysticaRose @farhanasultana

DIdn't the other team already try to seize the House?

@farhanasultana there shouldn't be billionaires.
@farhanasultana Billionaires should be hobbled, neutered and executed in quick succession.
@oldmanmike @farhanasultana
Sure, I hate billionares but-
Y'KNOW WHAT FRICK IT LET'S DRAIN SOME UPPER-CLASS SNOBS.
@south_lib @farhanasultana bring the truck around front click-clack
@farhanasultana @alephnaught2tog started reading this and the internal "BILLIONAIRES SHOULD NOT EXIST!!!" klaxons started to go off and I was mighty pleased to read the last line
@QueerBogWitch @farhanasultana @alephnaught2tog
Billionaires are evil.
They're just too powerful to exist in political, socioeconomic settings.
@farhanasultana There is no room on a sustainable planet for billionaires
@farhanasultana
… and reporters should stop asking their opinions on all mundane, day-to-day matters, as if what they thought should dictate worldwide policy! 👍
@farhanasultana
Just think if every billionaires money was evenly distributed between every man, woman and child in the US, we'd all be sitting pretty
@Lorian68 @farhanasultana Where would the money come from? In order for the billionaires to get the money so they could distribute it, they would have to sell their assets. To who? Their enormous wealth is mostly imaginary. Numbers on a page. Elon Musk recently "lost" about $200B, but that means nothing. It just means people were less willing to pay a higher price for Tesla shares. Talk of banning billionaires is barking up the wrong tree. We need to fix the avoidance of tax by the super-rich.
@Slartybartfast @farhanasultana Very true! I was kind of fantasizing over the distribution of wealth thing. Totally not realistic!!
@farhanasultana The system is designed this way so the more money you have the more power you have and since these people have a tremendous amount of money they have a tremendous amount of power. Now I would love to hear your suggestions on how we can mercifully diminish their wealth.
@farhanasultana It should be illegal for any company, company representative or company sympathizer to influence or attempt to influence any elected official, government worker or agency or to have any influence or input on policy unless asked. City, county, state, federal inclusive. The idea being corporations and businesses are not in any way mentioned in the Cosntitution and thus have zero rights under it. The Constitution was written for living individual humans, not non-living entites.
@farhanasultana you’re burying the lede there 😂

@farhanasultana

This. I would add: A system is failed, when politicians earn a sh*tload of tax money to prevent that they can be corrupted, meanwhile nevertheless they in fact ARE corrupted by said billionaires and lobbyists. And they don't even stop when #ClimateCollapse and the collapse of the entire human civilization are in stake.

#EatTheRich
#SystemChangeNotClimateChange

@farhanasultana billionaires should be freed from their billions.

@farhanasultana @aral modern capitalism is specifically designed to produce billionaires and invests them with the most power. They're a problem on many levels.

If we want them to stop existing we need to remove the system that produces them.

@farhanasultana
I want to share this a billion times
@farhanasultana Agree totally. Billionaires are a sign that a country is malfunctioning.
@farhanasultana Billionaires should be taxed out of existence.
@farhanasultana Billionaires are just people with bigger digit numbers in computers than the rest of us

@farhanasultana Y'all know this.

For many, billionaires already have been (in the case of the #BlackLivesMatter protests & anti-pipeline protests) totally dismissed as irrelevant, as an afterthought, & as absolutely in the way.

@farhanasultana basically
Elon musk needs to shut the fuck up
@farhanasultana Billionaires appear to be incompatible with democracy. If a nation cannot sustain both, I am more comfortable with tax policies which limit the probability of excess accumulated wealth.
@farhanasultana this should be our next amendment
@farhanasultana Exactly, billionaires should not exist.
@farhanasultana if they do exists, their main focus should be giving the money back to the workers who created that wealth.
@farhanasultana The height the rich and powerful are allowed to soar to says less about a society than the depths they're allowed to stoop to.
@farhanasultana what about billionaires in the Japanese economy? That's only about 7.6 million USD
@farhanasultana And none of them should be in any political office, since they only reoresent other oligarchs.

@farhanasultana Billionaires should not pay lower % taxes than the rest of us.

Billionaires should not receive "breaks" aka handouts from state monies.

Billionaires should not have more or greater influence over government or politicians than ppl like me.

@farhanasultana

The whole point of democracy is to restrain the powerful in the service of the common good. Friedman and Reagan declaring that capitalism only works when it is unrestrained was the beginning of American Fascism.

@farhanasultana
@awpeet

A progressive #wealthTaxNow, at 50% on everything over $50 million would surely be better than guillotine, which is a real risk if we don't reverse the increasing inequality soon.

@farhanasultana
When it floats across my timeline again 11 days later, the only proper thing to do is to unboost and reboost.

#EatTheRich

@farhanasultana

BUT WON’T SOMEONE THINK OF THE BILLIONAIRES

@farhanasultana

My interpretation of the last part (because killing phantasies emerged even here on Mastodon - human rights are universal):
It's about billionaires as a phenomenon, not the persons. Persons who are billionaires should not be billionaires. They should not stay billionaires. They should not have become billionaires in the first place.

It should be structurally impossible to accumulate so much money as a single person.
