THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN A MEME DIES:

(thus be it ever to toxic memes.)

Following the great profile about my whistleblower disclosures in Télérama last month, another #Apple #whistleblower, Thomas Le Bonniec (who helped expose Apple's secret recordings of the public via #Siri), published a wonderful follow-on article about how both of our disclosures show indisputable contradictions in Apple's supposed stance on data protection and #privacy.

We translated it from French to English. Check it out: https://ashleygjovik.substack.com/p/the-schrodinger-of-data-protection

Journalists need to write about Assange’s prosecution no matter what they think of him.

Cases involving controversial figures make bad law when politicians and judges are guided by grudges over principles. The press shouldn't fall into that trap.

If you care about press freedom, make some noise about Julian Assange

The US justice department has acted appallingly in the Assange case. If he can be prosecuted, so can journalists everywhere

Reporters recording cops evicting a homeless encampment were convicted of a crime, searched, and banned from city parks.

We joined 45+ orgs standing up for journalism by urging prosecutors to drop charges against these reporters.

People should be tired of this. This man, his abuse, his hubris, the situation.

In my AI story, the observation that

"all of human history could be regarded as the story of everyone trying to get out from under the thumbs of other people, that everyone should be able to live life on their own terms and for their own benefit."

We got rid of people with the TITLES king, emperor. It is time to get rid of anyone's ability to BEHAVE the same way.

Let nobody be bothered by temper tantrums of the rich any longer.

Officials are claiming that backdoor 702 access is necessary to find victims of cybercrime. But under existing warrant law, warrants could be obtained lawfully to find evidence of a crime, negating this line of reasoning.

Surveillance numbers drop, but critics aren’t satisfied

The numbers come amid an intensifying fight on Capitol Hill over reauthorizing the spying powers.

America is a stratocracy, a form of government dominated by the military. It is axiomatic among the two ruling parties that there must be a constant preparation for war. The war machine’s massive budgets are sacrosanct. Its billions of dollars in waste and fraud are ignored. Its military fiascos in Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East have disappeared into the vast cavern of historical amnesia. #War #politics #democracy #usa

The Enemy From Within

The war industry, a state within a state, disembowels the nation, stumbles from one military fiasco to the next, strips us of civil liberties and pushes us towards suicidal wars with Russia and China.
