I’m off Twitter and have an unimproved 1973 kitchen so I’m largely insulated from the foolishness over gas stoves.
@Popehat
Is it too new to be gold or avocado?
@sepfeiffer @Popehat
Don’t forget. Burnt Sienna!
@YetAnotherGeekGuy @sepfeiffer @Popehat
I have an oven from a similar era and it can generally only singe sienna.
@Popehat
I've seen a few memes over here.
@Popehat Show us your linoleum flooring.

@Popehat I use the microwave and small electrical appliances to cook on. I have a 2-burner propane mini stove, in case of power failure.

There are no natural gas pipelines in my county.

"Like, whatever."🤷

@Popehat
The originalist case for owning a gas stove.
@ASP @Popehat
The better alternatives are also cheaper and safer. . .
@Popehat So it sounds like you're about due for a new induction range?
@Popehat I have a beautiful gas stove and revel in it! ❤️‍🔥
@Popehat as long as the insulation has Asbestos, you're good, because Asbestos is the Bestus®!
@Popehat Don't worry, Republicans will forget all about gas stoves when the next election cycle starts.

@Popehat I bought a house last year with a gas stove. It's fairly new.

I'm planning on replacing it with an induction range when I put solar on the roof. I really tried to like it, since *so many* people love them. I hate it. I'm really thinking about buying a small induction top "for the RV" and using it in the kitchen whenever I can.

@Popehat I did just replace our 1950s stove in our 1890s house and it would have been 20k+ to run power so…yeah. Win over a constantly running pilot?
@Popehat I think this kitchen is old enough to have earned immunity against remodeling. Phew.

@locksmithprime @Popehat

In the olden daze, things were made well.

@Popehat
so...going to renovate around that stove now that you have free time leftover from twitter? 😃
@noondlyt I have two kids in college. So no.

@Popehat

I gotta love the right wing culture war stuff... It isn't like it is removing gas stoves (and heck, you can pry my BlueStar 6 burner from my cold, dead hands), it is just new construction in a few jurisdictions. But never let the truth interfere with a culture war story.

@Popehat Was just realizing that, in not looking at Twitter, 74 percent of the extreme right’s stupidity flows by without me knowing.
@JonathanDalton @Popehat it's really nice to miss it, isn't it?
@Livelaughlovecraft @Popehat … to the point that I was reading a post debating whether this is an echo chamber. All I know is if I don’t have to hear Kari Lake proclaim she’s really the governor elect and not read about litter boxes or gas stoves or whatever, I’m good.
@Popehat Well, the "war on Christmas" hand-wringing can't start for a few more months, they must need something to fret about.
@Popehat I just typed "what's the deal with" into google, and it instantly completed with "gas stoves."

@Popehat

We don’t have gas lines in my neighborhood.

@Popehat FWIW, gas was my favorite cooktop until I tried induction. Induction cooktops are great.
@Popehat
My washing machine was so old when it finally died the grey haired delivery guy spent 10 minutes explaining to the younger one what all the different parts were for.
@Popehat As a former plumber and remodeler I think demonizing gas stoves is falling for propaganda from utilities & developers. The first wants to sell electricity & the second can make more money by eliminating gas lines.
@stoicmike @Popehat As someone living in Northern California, home of earthquakes and PG&E firebombing their customers, there are some other reasons to avoid gas.
@jpallas @Popehat So do we & earthquake insurance & a PGE upgrade are on our platter at the moment.
@Popehat republicans are just looking for something to be outraged over. Reminds me of a kid in elementary school who was always looking for a fight. It’s really sad.
@Popehat Is the Norge running okay?
@Popehat Great example of Poe’s Law.

@Popehat

OR …
You could just turn on the vent fan when you cook …

@Popehat 1969 kitchen here. Nostalgia is for fools.

@Popehat

I don't get the furor at all, I don't think my city has any gas lines at all, and it seems like the fewer pipes you have to run into a building the better.

I think some people just enjoy finding new things to get mad about.

@Popehat asbestos you can be, anyway
@Popehat wait until you hear what’s happening to #kerrygold butter over on the bird site…
@Popehat classic self-defeating prophecy
@Popehat I'm still firmly on team "oh no what are they distracting us from" when it comes to weird nonsense like this. There's always something, and I never have the capacity to discern it, which frightens me. I'll find out when it's too late, no doubt.
