@arielwaldman 🤣 I sent someone an email once and got a reply message saying "your recipient is in Antarctica, your email has been queued and we'll have a go at sending it next time a satellite passes over in a couple of days' time". I guess things have got better since those days!

@arielwaldman She’s part of the larger group that includes the British crew. She flew out for an organizing session in Scotland last Spring; I flew out afterwards and we hung out in Edinburgh for a few days. However, she is part of the American side, working on her doctorate in Glaciology at Lamont-Dohery (Columbia).
