Amy@daveleeFT I have a question if you don’t mind. I search for some journalists to follow on Mastodon, and their profile name shows a box at the end that says ‘Bot’. What is a that?

@amybonzo @daveleeFT Interacting with their posts here is also a way to let them know the fediverse is a good place to give more attention.

Michael@amybonzo It's a software robot, really just code that executes some function repeatedly, usually over the internet. A "spider" is a web search bot. There are administrative bots in many chat rooms. Some bots are good; some are evil, like spam and tracking, etc.
