New to Mastodon, at least I’m now spelling it correctly.

I don’t post much, but I look for good voices to follow and boost. Women, POC, analysts, sane people, and people who raise awareness. We live in complex times. Also cats, and whisky.

The problem is this: We are currently in an information disruption.

The way people are getting their information is creating misinformation-rage cycles.

It seems to me that these cycles will not end until we work our way out of this disruption.

The last major information disruption was the printing press and it caused havoc.

The firehose of rage is the result of two things: how people get their information and the complexity of our legal system.

I've been writing about this.

“Two of the named Russian sources have not been seen or heard of since. The publication of this document did serious damage to the US government’s Russian operations and their ability to recruit new Russian sources. The claimant’s [Trump’s] actions in this regard were truly shocking and arguably constitute one of the most egregious breaches of intelligence rules and protocol by the US government in recent times.”

Why is the .US domain -- the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United States -- consistently among the most prevalent in phishing domains?

And why is this okay, when other ccTLDs that also restrict registration to residents/citizens don't seem to have this problem? And when a fair number of .US domains are used to attack US government agencies? Today's story explores these questions:

Domain names ending in “.US” — the top-level domain for the United States — are among the most prevalent in phishing scams, new research shows. This is noteworthy because .US is overseen by the U.S. government, which is frequently the target of phishing domains ending in .US. Also, .US domains are only supposed to be available to U.S. citizens and to those who can demonstrate that they have a physical presence in the United States.

Trump stated a few days ago that he's the target of a Jan 6 investigation, and indictments haven't yet dropped. Could the target letter have prompted something new? I'm thinking additional cooperating witness(es) have come forward, new evidence, etc.

I'm in my 6th decade here on this earth, and I finally figured out that 80% of friendship is simply showing up. Being there counts - even when inconvenient, ho-hum, dramatic, low key, confusing, easy, or understated.

Ground News - The aftermath of mass shootings infiltrates every corner of survivors’ lives

If I can give one piece of life advice:

Whenever someone geeks about something in front of you, or admits an 'embarrassing' interest, just say:

"That sounds AMAZING. I don't know anything about that. Tell me about it."

Then just listen.

Not once in my life have I regretted it.

My account on Twitter is suspended because music (in videos) isn’t allowed there.

Instagram and TikTok for example pay the music industry to let their users post videos with music, but Twitter refuses to do this.

This case is a lot bigger than only my suspension. I have nothing more to say about it for now..

Btw I’m doing fine 😀

A question if you don’t mind. At what point is someone ineligible to be elected? Is it indictment, guilty verdict/plea, or imprisonment? I would assume it depends on the crime and the elected office being sought, and there may be a distinction between running for office, being elected, and actually taking or holding office.
