For Europe, the EU's Mastodon instance is at
@supergovernance Great write-up, would love to see more government involvement in the Fediverse. The #EU is a big proponent of the #fediverse and they actually run their own instance and a lot of...
@leigh funnily enough, the original docs for the initial install + @hazelweakly's somewhat exasperated notes when i was looking at the install a month later + systemd's service templates i snarfed from a blogpost¹ because i was too lazy to write them myself.

@jimcarroll @leigh It needs to be in powers of ten.

Now, would I have gotten that right yesterday? No. Not close. I would have hovered between 1 and 10 months.

It took like a half-hour of work — and only that much b/c I screwed up some prefs and had to edit S3 settings a few times.

It's not complicated at all to set up your own instance. And wonderful to meet you folks - pioneers in every stretch of the imagination!

Been using #Cloudflare for years (near instant DNS changes are part of what made this so easy).
But not Maggie Haberman. She's right at home in the depths of the plumbing
If they had any sense, they would have started working on their own instances several weeks ago.
@leigh @jeremybowers was already on that train of thought. I'd love to see it.
Might need to figure out a plan for getting The Post’s journalists on Mastodon. What’s the right angle — hosting our own server?
Oh man yes
With luck they had people investigating this weeks and weeks ago
if not, time to GET BUSY
it will be interesting to see if they will start producing better content.
with no rage algorithms, they might be forced to go back to good reporting.
@leigh Seems like a natural thing to to for all organisations that needs an online presence.
