At this 3rd anniversary of the start of the pandemic I’d like to thank the scientists, health and social care workers, and essential front line workers who saved millions. Many literally owe you their lives. It’s rare that I ask this but please consider reblog/boost to spread gratitude. I will never forget or forgive those who spread anti-science ignorant disinformation. Usually for financial and/or political objectives. And it continues. Vigilance is still needed. Greetings from Switzerland.

@harphat
Absolutely! I've somehow managed to not be infected yet (that I know of), and it could well be that the immunizations are responsible. The turnaround time from defining the problem to addressing it with a vaccine still amazes me.

Our local hospital and related facilities still require masking, but my specialists' offices DO NOT, if you can believe that. Since part of my treatment involves immunotherapy, that shocks me a bit. (I'm in sort-of-rural Arizona, USA, local population about 50k.)

@harphat Thank you scientist, medical workers, essential workers who guided and led us through this horrible time. #grattitude #thankyou

@harphat it’s weird how quickly earthlings forget who the actual essential workers are.

Does your media not remind you often enough?

@harphat hard to believe 3 years have passed, and yet it is so real.
@harphat on behalf of two of those (my wife, a hospital pathologist who worked through the worst of it and for several months self isolated to protect the rest of her family) and myself, a pharma scientist who dropped everything to work on one of the vaccines, thank you.

@harphat The #antivax got so bad here in the US that I made this #meme for the bird site.

A lot of folks lost loved ones to this virus. So easy to stop spreading it, but too many unhinged people not masking or getting the vaccine.

@harphat

Govt, healthcare authorities, and the public in general, should be aware of recent increases in #Covid19 infections. Govt weekly infections' data of limited use compared with @Join_ZOE daily data and well-respected @ONS infection survey reports
🚨🦠🏥🚑#LongCovid risks increased.

Signs are that in the UK too, respiratory pathogens are on the increase. Time to consider sensible public health protections, e.g. masks, ventilation, and where feasible, vaccines.

@JoePajak @harphat

If Gov no longer encourages testing. And if you do test yourself, you can't report the results. And LFT false -ve rates are up for whatever reason. Then the case data in the Gov Dashboard is useless. It becomes a count of how many people are so bad in hospital that they are diagnosed as having Covid.

Meanwhile loads of people have "the worst flu ever" that is "definitely not Covid" because they never got a good LFT at just the right time.

@JoePajak @harphat And Covid is not real and it's over. Until a family member or close colleague or close work mate def gets it and goes into hiding for 2 or more weeks.
@harphat ok I have a crazy question. I’m the only one in my family that got the bivalent booster in late October and the only one that got COVID on our most recent round. At least the only one with symptoms and who tested positive so far. What can I tell my anti-vaccine believing in-laws about this one? 😂
@harphat
Faved & boosted. You are so right! Greetings from Santa Monica, CA, USA
@harphat The US anniversary is not until March. And was over by Easter. Just to correct the record.
@harphat
Thank you 🌱💙🌿
Vigilance IS still needed;
#wearAmask #GetVaccinated #getBoosted and be responsible for each other 🌟
@harphat where i live a lot of nurses are weirdo anti-vaxxers and i had to watch over both my parents listening to absolutely idiotic comments from the nursing staff in the hospital corridors - many failed in their duty to do the best to hold the virus at bay so i'm just going to say for that and for other reasons my appreciation for healthcare workers is case-by-case which is basically the same as any other profession
@harphat
Quite true
Greetings from New Zealand
@harphat still wearing my mask, when I do go out in public! Every time.
@harphat Re-posted!!! I totally agree with you. I am double vaccinated, triple boosted, wear a mask when out in public indoors and on busy streets or public transport of all kinds. Have not had Covid (I call myself a Novid) despite being “double bubbled” with my daughter and her wee twins girls. I say one part luck, nine parts preventative measures. Seeing our health care workers and our government officials bullied and threatened is the saddest part of all of this for me.
@harphat I'm not supporting those who spread the disinformation but we need to forgive them. (Not saying you should forget though.) Many who spread the disinformation were more or less deceived, being the victims as well as the perpetrators.
@harphat greeting from Michigan, USA. Loved your words I feel the same way. Thank you front line workers and teachers!
@harphat Absolutely! Hello from Boston, MA, USA. After 3 years I just tested positive today, after attending my own retirement party. Yay me! 5 COVID shots, and a flu shot helps because it will be mild. I trust the science, love scientists, and still think Fauci is the SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!
@harphat ...and they still are spreading anti-science/anti-vax disinformation...some even saying Covid doesn't exist...I'm sure the families of the 6.7m who died from Covid would put them straight!
