don't spread nazi propaganda
don't platform nazi propaganda
don't reply to nazi propaganda
don't quote retweet nazi propaganda
don't screenshot dunk on nazi propaganda
don't spread nazi propaganda
don't spread nazi propaganda
don't platform nazi propaganda
don't reply to nazi propaganda
don't quote retweet nazi propaganda
don't screenshot dunk on nazi propaganda
don't spread nazi propaganda
"but what if they made a typo"
"but what if it's so unhinged that it's funny"
"but what if I have a really funny reply"
no
stop
don't spread nazi propaganda
"but people have to be aware of fascist propaganda!"
Yes, share info on it, talk about it, keep people informed. Fascist propaganda isn't all racial slurs and swastikas. People have to be made aware that even words like "cuck", "degenerate" or "asocial" are fascist propaganda. They have to know about the fascist background of many popular memes.
However,
DON'T SPREAD FASCIST PROPAGANDA
DON'T SHOW IT TO PEOPLE
ONLY EVER SHOW IT TO PEOPLE WITH PROPER AND THOROUGH CONTEXTUALIZATION
DON'T SHOW IT AT ALL IF YOU CAN AVOID IT
YOU CAN JUST EXPLAIN IT. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPREAD IT
THAT'S HOW PROPAGANDA WORKS
THAT'S HOW MEMES WORK
THAT'S HOW IDEAS AND IMAGES GO VIRAL
DON'T
SPREAD
FASCIST
PROPAGANDA
Everything I have said in this thread applies to child porn and adjacent material, too
I wouldn't post this hadn't I just seen someone post child porn _adjacent_ material in order to criticize it
Honestly I have no idea what's going on in those people's heads
By the way, I'm only boosting this today because people LOVE spreading the images of Elon Musk doing the nazi salute everywhere.
An image of a rich and powerful man doing a nazi salute is fascist propaganda.
If you encounter a fascist sticker, a swastika graffito or a slogan in the wild, do not take photos and spread them around
Take proper precautions, peel off the sticker, paint over the graffito, or report the damage to the property owner
Make the propaganda disappear
Do not spread fascist propaganda
Attached: 1 video Stephen Miller's speech superimposed with the audio from the Goebbels speech it was inspired by.
@schratze "ugh you're just language policing and pushing people away from the left if you don't let us use ableist fascist propaganda and incel terms"
- fucking bozos
@schratze
In addition if you find fascist propaganda online, i.e. on a platform x or y, do not spread them around by screenshots.
Do not spread fascist propaganda. Do not poison other peoples attention. Do not spread hate.
@schratze Same goes for obvious far-right provocations in the news : Do not quote the payload.
Do not attempt to "utilize" it.
Make it disappear.
@schratze fucking feel this SO much
I have a paper coming out at some point that has fascist memes in it
I would NEVER just post those memes even though they're ridiculous
like
come on (you need the 5k word explanation and context, without that its just sharing propaganda)
@Cyborgneticz @schratze we need a strategy to combat propaganda, that is better than "ignore it" or "write 5k essays" (which essentially still is "ignore it", since few people read those essays).
As a society, we need mechanisms to identify, criticise, and label lies in politics, especially popular lies. Not only in academy, but reaching everyone.
We have created systems of idea collection and amplification, without quality control we can kiss our societies goodbye.
@Cyborgneticz n.b.: The video you uploaded on vimeo "A Brief History of Neoliberalism" (https://vimeo.com/443233752) doesn't load for people who don't have a login because it's "not rated"
you have to set it for "All Audiences"
@schratze And don’t quote Nazis if you cannot fully deconstruct all the falsehoods and dogwhistles in there with the quote.
Yes, this can take pages and pages just to take apart two sentences.
So don’t quote Nazis if you’re not prepared for that — and able to actually recognize all that has to be deconstructed.
@schratze
This includes Shitter and Meta screenshots.
IMO and YMMV.
@schratze wait 'asocial' i can understand anti-social but isnt 'asocial' just 'i dont like / engage with social activities' generally, while anti-social tries to pain that as somehow a bad thing
can i get context on that?
