I visited a garden today that Iโ€™ve been going to for over 50 years, and thought it would always be accessible. But itโ€™s been sold and may be developed. I took a ton of photos, as it could very well be the last time I see the place. Everything looked so beautiful to me, like I was seeing for the first time, instead of the last. For some reason, I burst into tears when I saw this tree trunk. Bittersweet.

@MKGehring I am so sorry, that is incredibly sad.
@MKGehring I truly hope you can continue visiting. The places we have like this are irreplaceable. Beautiful picture.
@stovallatticus Thanks. Many of us who love this garden are hoping that the buyer just keeps the garden intact, even if they close it to visitors. This is in Portland, Oregon, and itโ€™s rare to have a garden like this with plantings over 100 yrs old.
@MKGehring Oh I know that feeling. There is a big condo development going up near me and they just tore down a piece of forest I used to walk in almost everyday for many years. The grief I feel for what is happening is based on years of getting to know that piece of land, every seasonal change, colours and sounds. I hope you get to visit this garden again and the developers see the value in keeping the wildness.
@MKGehring I know that feeling, it's as if suddenly you are really seeing it for the first time.
@jaymcor It was really cool to have that insight, the feeling of seeing things for the first time. I want to grow that feeling, and pay attention in that way more often, even when looking at something Iโ€™ve seen many times.
@MKGehring
I know how you feel. Where I live, developers will often cut off the top of a mountain in order to put in a "development." As though an actual mountain is something you won't miss much, since they contribute so little I guess.
@MKGehring nature has a way of evolving so nothing looks the same forever. Beauty throughout its life, spreading happiness.
A tree can develop over 100 + years without human intervention, never looking the same from year to year.
The worst thing is, when we humans interfere, rendering it synthetically, it remains static and boring. (BLAND, POLLUTING) ๐Ÿซฃ
Working against nature is vandalism of the most precious things on earth.
There is no planet B.
@MKGehring wow, it has so much Life Force Energy. Energy never dissipates, just changes form. Let's hope this one stays exactly where it is ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž
@MKGehring what a glorious tree trunk, no wonder you cried
@MKGehring ๐Ÿฅฒ This is how memories are being created: loss.
